The way things are going, by the time the NHL players come up for their vaccination turns in the summer, half of them will have already been infected.

Salary cap...Most teams couldn't afford him IIRC only 4 teams could have taken his cap and one of those is Detroit... and Yzerman already rid himself of DeAngelo
The only way the Rangers are going to be able to trade DeAngelo is by eating cap hit/salary and/or shipping him off with other assets, picks or taking on someone else's garbage.

Aho is personally lobbying for some team in the Central division to add Tony DeAngelo so he can undress him again.

Pat Brisson, who is DeAngelo’s agent, told Dreger that he and Rangers GM Jeff Gorton are talking to clubs with trade interest. In the meantime, DeAngelo is sitting at home.

He was available on waivers for free. Why would anyone trade for him?

Look ... Brisson's job is to make it seem like the whole world wants to sign his client. To frame it like the contract was the problem, not his client's performance and behavior. The rest of the world's job is to see those statements for what they are ... cow excrement ... and carry on. Like you or somebody else noted, there are only four teams with the cap space to absorb that salary and one of the them is run by a GM who already bailed on Tony D. That explains him clearing waivers, for sure. That doesn't 100% preclude somebody trading for the guy if they can dump an even worse contract on New York in the process. DeAngelo's buyout isn't all that bad if you can trade away somebody who's buyout is actually worse. If not, then ... meh. He can rot on his couch.

Looks like the Devils are completely shut down through the 6th at the earliest.
Slugs v. Islanders scheduled for tonight has been postponed. Since the Devils just came off a weekend series with the Slugs, this is the probable start of the contact fallout.

Slugs are off until their next scheduled game on 2/11. Taylor Hall and Rasmus Ristolainen are in the protocol. Devils are up to 14 players.

Michael Russo, who covers the Wild for The Athletic, says roughly 6 players will be on today’s Covid list.

The kids at The Athletic are starting to project the 2022 Olympic teams. So far, they’ve done US, Canada, Finland and Sweden. Slavin, Aho and Teravainen are pretty much locks, Hamilton has a shot. They’re projecting Aho and Teravainen on the 2nd line with Laine.

That Finland team is hot fire up front. The D's a little thin compared to the other medal contenders, but I'd be shocked if this version of Suomi doesn't take home a medal of some sort.

They also have Svech on a second line for the Russians, but it would be a lot more fun to see him playing the wing on a top line with Ovi and Panarin!

Michael Russo says the Wild’s shutdown could be extended at least another week. They have 9 players and 1 staff member on the Covid list. The Slugs also have 9 players on the list and a total of 24 players who played in Slugs v. Devils on 1/30-31 entered the protocol. Linesmen Kory Nagy and James Tobias worked those games and were scratched from their next assignments, but the league isn’t commenting on any officials’ health information.
