2022 Draft Thread

i am more worried about teams above us knocking our draft spot down

history of draft lotteries have teams jumping into the top 3 often

I think you cant jump more than 10 spots moving forward ?

Sportsnet was mentioning something about the bottom 2 teams can only drop 2 spots maximum ??

If we finish 31st, we can draft any lower than 4th overall. We’ll draft a good player . . . and then likely ruin him, although KK was just drafted way too high to begin with.

No player we take should be on our roster next year , even Wright if we win the lottery

All the top prospects need to grow physically or improve aspects of their game

10 spots jump max. Only top 2 picks are for grab this year. 64.5% chance that we get bumped off the 2nd spot on the first draw. After that it depends on who won the first lottery.

GW , explain top 2 up for grabs ? First draw and first lottery ?

There will be two draws, one for the No. 1 pick and one for No. 2. After that, the order will go based on where team's finished the season. This is a change from three drawings in the past for the top three picks.

One of the two new rules that will be implemented this draft is that teams will be restricted from moving up more than 10 spots if it wins one of the lottery draws. So whichever teams that are slotted between No. 12-16 cannot get the No. 1 pick.

if we finish last - worst case we draft third
if we finish second last - worse case 4th
if we finish third last - worse case 5th

best case is always first :p

Thanks , so lets say team #13 wins the lottery

They now pick 3rd overall ?

not 100 percent but i think this
they cannot win first overall lotto - but not sure how that works
so if they win the second pick lotto - yes the habs would pick third

The other is that teams cannot win the lottery more than twice in a five-year span. Any wins in the lottery prior to 2022 will not be counted toward this total, so 2022 marks the beginning of any team's five-year period.

So after we win this year and next we will have to end the rebuild :p

There is only 2 draws, first draw is for the first spot, even though the winning team can only go up 10 spots, and then the second draw is for the second spot, with the same restrictions.

The edge case that I'm not sure of is what happen is the #12 team wins the first draw and then for example the #5 team wins the second draw.

After the first, #12 would be in spot 2, but then #5 would win spot 2, so which one would be 2nd and 3rd is not clear to me.
