2022 Stanley Cup Playoff Picks

Washington vs Florida cokes down to the number of people Tom Wilson is allowed to murder.

If it's less than 2 the panthers will win

Toronto vs. Tampa - I mean, they have to show up eventually like spring hockey matters more, right? They're honest to goodness better than Tampa. Gotta actually do it now. Fuck my ptsd, I'm calling it.
Who exactly are you trying to convince? Us or yourself?

For the record no, they don't have to show up eventually. They can keep underachieving indefinitely. The last 55 years of history should tell you that much.

And don't be so sure that the Leafs are better. Tampa is the one with 2 Cups in the last 2 seasons and their record this season is likely a product of them knowing how to pace themselves so that they have gas left in the tank for the games that matter. They also have more reliable goaltending and better defense.

Oh, and Corey Perry. They have Corey Perry. You'll probably forget all about him until he burns you at the most inopportune time. Tell Tavares to keep his head up.

A bit of both
For the record no, they don't have to show up eventually.

They would be the first example, maybe ever, of a team with top shelf elite talent that punched under their weight as a rule in the playoffs. As a general rule, every team composed like them figures it out eventually. Some earlier in their development curve (Pittsburgh, Blackhawks), some later (Caps, Lightning).
The last 55 years of history should tell you that much.

Are the parents of our best players even 55 years old? What the fuck does 1967 have to do with the price of pork in Israel in 2022?

The Leafs were better during the regular season than the Lightning, point blank period. Any excuse you want to use to explain that away, have at it, but it's the truth.

Stay classy

generally these seem sensible...you really think STL goes down that easy though? I also think CGY should dispose of DAL more easily than that.

I believe that vasi goes into his Hasak routine and that Kutcher is still the 1.5 ppg players.
Calgary has a the easiest way out of their conference. But Dallas has a few old horses that could string together some anxious momemts for the flames.
And Minny. Well, I Can't stand St Louis ....hate everything about them. But I also think minny are going to be a real thorn in someone side each round they press on in.
If Colorado gets upset and the leafs get beaten by the bolts in the first series..... There isn't another team that can stop them unless the NHLanifests some flack jacket to hinder the bolts lol.

I notice you're not upset in the least that he picked the Bruins to win.

Fwiw, Vasilevsky has been pretty fucking mortal in 2022

Jan: .908
Feb: .914
March: .913:
April: .904

I don't know if I necessarily buy this whole "flip a switch" narrative because now the games matter. Vasilevsky was a stud in the second half in both cup seasons and was entering the playoffs on extended runs of good form.
