Yeah, that was a throwaway line in several of the articles published recently. People have speculated that Bettman finally threw in the towel when Muruelo couldn't put a timeline on the arena complex he's hoping to build on that auction land outside of Scottsdale, but I think it was a combination of that plus the resurgence of the same old crap with not paying his vendors creeping back into the conversation. It's one thing to keep giving the guy extra rope if he's an otherwise excellent owner/operator, but this guy is slime AND he can't get an arena deal done. Screw that noise.
 
The Slugs finished their season yesterday with a win over Tampa. Today, they fired head coach Don Granato, assistant Jason Christie and video coordinator Matt Smith. Whomever replaces Granato will be their 6th coach since Lindy Riff was whacked in February 2013.

In this case it looks like Kevyn Adams decided to go for the wide broom and just start over. Although, maybe the guy was due for a raise or something.
 
The Habs recalled Logan Mailloux from the OHL London Knights.

They also signed Luke Tuch to his entry deal but it doesn’t start until next season. Because of his age, it’s only a 2 year contract. He signed a PTO with AHL Laval.

Coach killer Jeff Skinner will have his 7th NHL head coach in his 15th NHL season.
 
The Eastern Conference will have at least one losing team in the playoffs. The Islanders can finish no better than 39-43. If the Wings get in they will probably be 41-41 but not necessarily. Any other team taking the last spot would be sub .500. Not a good look. But, of course, it doesn’t actually look like that with the way the records are listed. At least the NHL is not the NBA. The Atlanta Hawks … woof.
 
Talk about going one extreme to another in a great way if you go from Jack Edwards to Johnny Forslund…outhouse to the penthouse in announcers for Boston if true.

Florida vs Tampa should be some must see tv now that last night’s developments has the Eastern Conference playoffs matchups set! Leafs get Bruins and Rangers gifted the Crapitals…now let’s get those dates and times set NHL or are you too busy dealing with the Coyotes mess…

Am I correct in thinking that the only hold up is the Oilers game tonight? If the Oilers win, would it change the Western matchups?
