Posted on TSN.ca about 30 minutes ago.

Button's full top-16 mock draft:
1. Chicago Blackhawks – Connor Bedard
2. Anaheim Ducks – Adam Fantilli
3. Columbus Blue Jackets – Leo Carlsson
4. San Jose Sharks – Will Smith
5. Montreal Canadiens – Dalibor Dvorsky
6. Arizona Coyotes – Matvei Michkov
7. Philadelphia Flyers – Ryan Leonard
8. Washington Capitals – David Reinbacher
9. Detroit Red Wings – Colby Barlow
10. St. Louis Blues – Matthew Wood
11. Vancouver Canucks – Axel Sandin-Pellikka
12. Arizona Coyotes (via OTT) – Zach Benson
13. Buffalo Sabres – Oliver Moore
14. Pittsburgh Penguins – Brayden Yager
15. Nashville Predators – Gabe Perreault
16. Calgary Flames – Nate Danielson
What an utter disaster that would be.

Count should be old enough to remember that we drafted big dud Doug Wickenheiser instead of puny HOF Denis Savard
Count is also old enough to know Douglas was considered basically unanimously to be the top player going into the draft.

Michel Therrien states he personally asked GM Fletcher at the draft where Flyers had Mailloux ranked on their list and it was between 10-15 (he can’t recall exactly), but hockey ops was forbidden to draft him per ownership (Comcast) orders. Goes on to say, he’s aware of many other teams Hockey Ops who also wanted to draft him but couldn’t get ownership buy in.

Was trying to draw parallels to Michkov situation
- it’ll be ownership(s) making final greenlight decisions not hockey ops

If Bedard had done what Mailloux did, he’d still go #1….ownerships around the league would still take him

Michkov is not dropping past #5….he’s uber talented, might be better than Bedard when we compare in 5-10 years

maybe but scenario is different. Other than a few fire breather pro Ukraine types like Wehave, most don't give a crap about him individually. Taking young Logan stirred up all the blue hairs and virtue signallers in the media and the "hockey rape culture" shit.

Ownership will only care if it will be a waste of an asset as he might never come over.

Also need to keep in mind Bobrov was Dir of Scouting for SKA St Petersburg 2011-2014 and his father has been a scout for SKA for the past 15-years

With all those connections to SKA, Bobrov’s gotta have access to intel most other teams simply don’t & a good understanding of the Michkov situation ..

I have to say though, despicable that NHL barely punished Hawks for what happened there for years, while management pretended to ignore it.

NBA-NFL forced owners of Clippers and Redskins to sell for similar incidents. What does NHL do: they gift ownership with Bedard

Sure, but there's a limit. You can possibly have a few more small players, but you better have a lot of big forwards to surround them.

I don't want to relive the Cammalleri - Gomez - Gionta era.
That is why I see 3. Michkov, caufield, hutson. But only hutson if he is elite. Not if he is Mete 2.0.

That said I don't want skillless giants like Douglas Murray, mccaron, etc. I want zero of those.

Is Bedard really the smallest in the top 5 ?

Nevermind that he’s more a winger than a true Center….kinda like Kane

Geez. You’d think, eh.

Farrell. True. Pinard. I don't think he is on the Habs if they are a contender.

Richard isn't a prospect. He is a 26 year old minor leaguer.
Pinard is a gamer and a true winner.
He was the difference maker when Halifax lost the Memorial Cup to Duran Duranda.
He is a middle six guy on a contender.
Fun fact that year Pinard, Baron, Suzuki and Guhlie all played against each other.

Ya. But we can only have so many small players. So unlikely he is on our team if we become a contender.
