You will be sad when we are Without He.
My detailed post from last month.Well - we have the 5th best odds.
So we pick one of 1,2,5,6,7 and then again at 16ish
If we pick number 1 - hello Bedard - have said enough about him
Number 2
=======
Fantilli is not Bedard but he is pretty damn good.
6'2 centre
Led U of Michigan in scoring - Luke Hughes was second with 48 points
36gp 30g 35a 65pts
Last year's pick Cooley only had 60 points this year - obviously he is a year older
Matty Beniers in his draft year only had 24 points in 24 games (post draft he had 43 in 38games) - this year he had 57 NHL points in 80 games
Summary - really good back up plan to Bedard
Number 5, 6, 7
=======
Here is where it gets interesting
Michkov - might be around at 5,6, or 7.
I take Michkov and wait the 3 years
RW 5′ 10″ | 172 pounds
Basically an offensive wizard.
I am not exactly sure how to compare russian players but let me try
in the KHL
Kucherov had 2 assists in 8 khl games in his draft year and 4 points in 18 games his post draft year - then did a year in the Q
27gp 9g 11a 20pts
also fuck putin
Carlsson - only chance at number 5
C, 6′ 3″ | 198 pounds
Maybe somebody goes off the board and somebody takes Michkov - probably unlikely he falls to us even at 5...but it is possible
44gp 10g 15a 25pts
Some comparables
Lucas Raymond - 10 points in 33 games - draft year
Elias Pettersson - post draft year 56 points in 44 games
William Nylander - 7 points in 22 games
Not the best skating and has been a winger a lot - so not convinced he will be a C in the NHL
William Smith - assume he is there at 5, but not sure about 6 or 7
C 5′ 11.75″ | 178 pounds
20gp 15g 27A 42PTS
Cooley had 36 points in 24 games his draft year
I will lump together the CHL guys in this range
Nate Danielson, C (WHL)
6′ 1.5″ | 185 pounds
Seems like a classic 2 way centre
68gp 33g 45a 78pt
Colby Barlow, LW (OHL)
6′ 0.25″ | 193 pounds
59gp 46g 33a 79pts
Samuel Honzek, LW, (WHL)
6′ 3.5″ | 186 pounds
One of the few big options in this range
43gp 23g 33a 56pt
Brayden Yager, C (WHL)
5′ 10.5″ | 166 pounds
67gp 28g 50A 78pts
Zach Benson, LW (WHL)
5′ 9.0″ | 160 pounds
Small guy but those point totals are impressive - even outscored last years 9th overall pick on his team (Savoie) and Geekie
60gp 36g 62a 98pts
For comparison - here is suzuki in his draft year
65gp 45g 51a 96pts
Danil But, LW, (RUSSIA)
6′ 5.0″ | 203 pounds
For count - and hey with the russia factor maybe he is around at the panthers pick
And with a name like that...
2 points in 15 KHL games
Dalibor Dvorsky, C, (SWEDEN-2)
6′ 1.0″ | 201 pounds
Did okay at the last 2 world juniors
Also folks like Reinbacher , Cristall, Moore, Leonard, Sale, Wood
If we picked at 5 it is probably Michkov or the fresh prince (outside shot for Carlsoon)
If we drop to 6 we would need some off the board picks to get a smith or michkov but if we end up 6 or 7 there will be a ton of choices - from all about the points like benson to some safer picks like Honzek - scouting staff will have to work
The good news is there shoud actually be some high upside guys with the panthers pick
Last night Vegas scored a goal when Draisaitl allowed a guy to waltz past him clear to the net in his own zone. I doubt he'll be getting bag skated at practice.we need to stop worrying about how our offensive guys play in the defensive zone, he has to go up against guys like Pig Nose and McNopersonality all the time so no surprise if he does not look so good in his own zone.
he has been invisible in this seriesWould be nice to find one of these...
Jason Robertson - 2017 NHL Draft Prospect Profile - The Hockey Writers NHL Entry Draft Latest News, Analysis & More
We profile Kingston Frontenacs left winger Jason Robertson. He was their best offensive player on a team struggling for goals. Where do we see him going?thehockeywriters.com
Probably too tall.he has been invisible in this series
Too scared of his own shadowProbably too tall.
If the Habs really wanted a prospect and feared a team ahead of them might take that player, what would a fair offer look like to move up to picks 2-4? Does the NHL have an NFL-style draft value system that can be used to determine what is a fair price?

You cant have size being an issue on D or upfront@GGpX was thinking... How does the size thing compare with teams not in the playoffs? Is there any difference?
I'll try to do a look this weekend to see if there is any correlation between size and playoff success.
Things I'd be curious about...
What is the size cut off? Is 5'11 small? 6 feet? Eg. Would you rather have kucherov or Marner?
Centres, wing, D?
Top 6 vs bottom 6?
Do teams with bigger players... Like 6'3" and up do better?
Does the production change for players of different heights in the playoffs?
For Gallagher, straight up, naturally.Great so they'll trade him to us then
More I think about potential of Michkov selection (should opportunity present itself), it dawned on me, Habs are the best positioned of all NHL teams to make THE decision - given the ability to access information / intel w their present Euro scouting dir and his father having both worked for / continue to work for SKA St Petersburg and both also understanding the needs of the NA game (smaller ice surface, two way focus / playoff intensity ramp-up, potential ability to navigate language barrier etc.), having worked for NHL orgs - father Sergei Bobrov for Kings and son Nick for NYR & now Habs.Geez. You’d think, eh.
