Look, I'm not gonna post mortem the Canes until they're actually dead, although you guys can feel free to bury them while they're still twitching if you want.
That said, I think a lot of people are talking about size/snarl/grit and skill like it's a binary choice. It's not. It's a always going to be a mix. Carolina's been trying to get by with mostly all purpose guys in their top 6 and then a mix of skill and grunt in the bottom six. I've never been convinced about the equation, mostly because it's so volatile and tricky to do it that way. The wrong guy gets hurt at the wrong time and the whole thing falls apart. Right now the Canes aren't getting enough out of much of anybody, but looking forward I think they have to work on the basic recipe. The measurements are off. And I think they know it, based on some of the guys they've chased over the years. But they've too often been unwilling to risk an over-pay or too big a spend on acquisition. Fortune favors the bold, boys. If they want to get one leap better, then they're going to have to take bigger risks and be more willing to dip into the picks/prospects savings account.
