2024-25 Canes Miscellaneous Thread

Not sure I’ll make the whole Thursday game. The cancer may be back so I have a biopsy scheduled in the or in Chapel Hill Friday morning. It’s too painful to do in the office so they’re going to knock me out and do it in the OR. Happened quick so I’m not sure if it will be this Friday or next Friday yet. Hopefully next Friday 👍

Hey gang, can't wait for tonight's ECF Game 2 !! I could use a pick-me-up after the nightmare I had last night.. I dreamt the game was actually yesterday (can you believe it?) and we got steamrolled in our own barn and it looked like the team had no answers to getting back in the series... whew! Glad it was just a nightmare; so when's the game thread getting created today Andy?

Hopefully we don’t think Marner is the answer. Same reason Guentzel wasn’t the answer. We need size and snarl with the speed and skill since our core is small and skilled and gentlemanly.
 
Look, I'm not gonna post mortem the Canes until they're actually dead, although you guys can feel free to bury them while they're still twitching if you want.

That said, I think a lot of people are talking about size/snarl/grit and skill like it's a binary choice. It's not. It's a always going to be a mix. Carolina's been trying to get by with mostly all purpose guys in their top 6 and then a mix of skill and grunt in the bottom six. I've never been convinced about the equation, mostly because it's so volatile and tricky to do it that way. The wrong guy gets hurt at the wrong time and the whole thing falls apart. Right now the Canes aren't getting enough out of much of anybody, but looking forward I think they have to work on the basic recipe. The measurements are off. And I think they know it, based on some of the guys they've chased over the years. But they've too often been unwilling to risk an over-pay or too big a spend on acquisition. Fortune favors the bold, boys. If they want to get one leap better, then they're going to have to take bigger risks and be more willing to dip into the picks/prospects savings account.
 
RBA said Chatty and Walker are probably doubtful for tomorrow but he’ll know at the morning skate.
 
Who could forget? I mean, most people you'd assume. Malone will be working with the Pens' affiliate in the A, which makes sense given how much time he spent in the minors.
