The vibe he gives off is not great, you can certainly say working with him he is great, fair enough, but the guy still does a lot of shit with Florida that is total douche bag stuff, it’s easy to see what he has done, he’s been a lifer in the league as a coach, he has pushed the envelope as far as he can go to win at all costs and the league allows it. You can see both sides of it, the goal is to win at all costs but to take players heads off and run guys into next week and to endorse that for your players to do is still a douche bag thing to do, right or wrong. The real crime might be the NHL to not enforce the rules enough to let old MO and his gang of idiots get away with the douche bag stuff.Look, my situation with Maurice is different because I know him and worked with/for him for several years. I really liked him….. his players, staff and other employees did too. Whether you like him as a coach or what he says, is one thing, but he’s not a douchebag or any other shithole name you want to give him. He’s a really good guy and has turned into a pretty damn good coach. There are plenty of douchebags and awful people in this world you can apply that label too if you wish. Sorry you guys disagree but Maurice is the furthest from a bad guy in this league as you can get.
I have no problem with him not doing the handshake line and suggesting that others not do it. I do not like how some of his players go about the business of playing hockey and I have to think he could set a tone that could diminish that if he wanted to. But I have no reason to think he’s just a jerk through and through. We’ve all got our issues.Look, my situation with Maurice is different because I know him and worked with/for him for several years. You mean the, "This Is Hockey" should have really had a question mark behind the statement?Malone was here for basically the nadir of the lost decade, so I'm VERY fuzzy on the details. His two seasons were Bill Peters' first two seasons, the first of which was Carolina's second lowest full season point total since the move south and the second was ... checks ... FIVE wins better. That whole era can eff off.
We used to joke that the theme should read: "This is hockey?"You mean the, "This Is Hockey" should have really had a question mark behind the statement?
Agreed. Mo is a lot of things, but douchebag (or whatever anyone uses to denote miscreant in their own vernacular) ain't one of them. There's nothing malicious about the man. He believes in hard nosed hockey and uses the resources his GMs give him as best he can. Do I like how Florida plays? No, I do not. They've collected a group that plays with a callous disregard for the health of their opponents, led by one of the most immature players of his generation in Matt Tkachuk. Mo allows that collection of merry idiots to run wild, which I 100% do take issue with, and he absolutely deserves to have to justify their behavior ... which in my opinion includes looking the other team in the eye at the end of a series. Mo may not be a d-bag, but he's got more than one on that team and for my money he doesn't do nearly enough to make sure they aren't running around out there trying to injure people. And again, this is nothing new for him. We had an arguably over the line dirty team or two while he was coaching the Canes. And if you watched the 98-99 Canes and can't admit to yourself that they were dirty, then I suggest some self reflection on the distorting nature of fandom and rooting interests.Look, my situation with Maurice is different because I know him and worked with/for him for several years. You can say Mo is douchebag all you want so long as you're willing to accept that someone (or several someones) might disagree with you. I can say Necas is a prick and I welcome any arguments to the contrary with open arms. The argument that I can't call Necas a prick because somebody pushed back on the idea that some other person entirely is a douchebag is not an actual argument, but ... cool.So we can say “Necas is a prick” but not “Mo is a Douchebag”. Because Mo has some aspects of his character that are perhaps admirable. Like being a good hockey parent for example so he must be overall good.
Apparently Necas character is known to be wholly prick like?
Sure. Whatever you say.You can say Mo is douchebag all you want so long as you're willing to accept that someone (or several someones) might disagree with you.
