2024-25 Hurricanes Prospects and Minors Thread

He was the Canes first pick in the 2024 Draft, they had traded their first (27th overall) for the 34th and 50th, which they used on Nikita Artamonov. As an 18 year old, he played in the top Swedish league. The Canes signed him a few weeks after the draft and loaned him back to Malmo in Sweden for the season. He’s not an offensive threat, he has 9 points in 82 games across 2 seasons. But he’s big, 6’3” and a right shot. In January, Scott Wheeler from The Athletic ranked him as the Canes 5th best prospect behind Morrow, Nadeau, Artamonov and Unger-Sorum
Yeah ... Carolina is hoping that Badinka grows into a do-it-all type, but he's probably more likely to stay an home defender with decent puck moving skill. From everything I've seen, his season in Europe was very positive and he projects to a 2nd or 3rd pairing right sider even if he never really produces counting stats. Those guys are always useful

Could resident Caniac Roy Cooper make a couple of calls to some of his old buddies in the Federal Government and see if that visa could be nudged along a bit quicker??? The only reason I mention it is because those politician Bat Phones have important people on speed dial when they need a favor or two...
Wrong flavor of pol, I'm afraid

Is Turkey a new province in Canada?
Since the US doesn't currently have diplomatic relations with Russia, any Russian citizen looking to get official documents to enter the US has to do so through a nation that does have diplomatic ties with both the US and Russia. Turkey seems to be the pathway of choice lately, since that's where Demidov went as well, but they could have gone through Estonia or Hungary as well.

It just sort of highlights that these things are way more complicated than randos on Twitter want to make out.

Nadeau, Brind’Amour, Fensore and Morrow were returned to to Chicago. So Riley Stillman is the healthy extra on D.

Chicago Wolves last week:

Apr 16 @Iowa W 3-1 Martin with the win. Suzuki, Gunler and Robidas with the goals
Apr 18 @Milwaukee L 5-0 Martin with the loss.
Apr 19 Rockford W 5-0 Martin with the 27 save shutout. Slavin, Jaaska, Nadeau x2 and Robidas with the goals.

Chicago finished in 4th place and will play a best of 3 play-in series against Rockford for the right to get blasted in the Central division Semi-Final round by Milwaukee.

The schedule for Chicago's "First round" series is:

Wed v. Rockford
Fri @Rockford
Sun @Rockford
*** If necessary. The Wolves are the home team and get last change despite this game being played @Rockford.

Bradley Nadeau finished 5th in the entire AHL with 32 goals
Ryan Suzuki finished T2nd in the entire AHL with 47 assists

Scott Morrow finished T5th in the entire AHL with 13 Goals as a Dman. He was behind Roland McKeown (15), tied with Trevor Carrick, and one better than Chase Priskie and Dylan Coghlan.

Good for the kids to get the post season exposure, even if it's not likely to last more than a round or two. And making the playoffs will make Chicago's moronic owners happy ... ish.
