2024-25 Hurricanes Prospects and Minors Thread

Perets was worth the shot. Zero risk, minimal dollars spent, not even a draft pick expended to take a flier that maybe his stellar college numbers were indicative of a late bloomer. I wish him luck.

The Wolves signed Raleigh native Tyler Weiss to a 2 way AHL/ECHL contract. He had 56 points in 63 games for ECHL Sout Carolina last season.

If he came up with the Junior Hurricanes, he left after his Bantam season. Elite Propsects shows him playing with Don Mills U15/U16 AAA in the Greater Toronto Hockey League. He spent 2 years in the US National Team Development Program and played in the U17 and U18 World Championships, winning silver with the U18s with K’Andre Miller, Joel Farabee, Cole Caufield, Oliver Wahlstrom, etc. He was drafted #109 overall in 2018 by the Avs. He went on to play 5 years at Nebraska-Omaha. The Avs didn’t sign him, he signed with the Toronto Marlies but spent the 2023-24 season at ECHL Newfoundland before moving to South Carolina last season.

Canes re-signed Domenick Fensore to a 1 year, 2 way contract, $775k/$70k/$100k guarantee. That leaves Suzuki and Seeley as the only unsigned RFAs.

Why did Ty Smith sign in the KHL? He reportedly signed for about $500k. He had a $275k guarantee last year.
If NHL teams watched the tape of Ty Smith's NHL time with the Canes last season, they might all of have been telling him 'no thank you'.

He was HORRIBLE in those 8 games with Carolina, and that was playing in a system that absolutely prioritizes what he does best, which is skate.

For those with terrible memories, Yarovoy was one of the guys who lost his job when the Vityaz club shut down operations. He's 21, as yet unsigned by Carolina and was a Canes 4th rounder in 2023. He's played goodly chunks of two KHL seasons and hasn't found his offense yet. Best of luck with Spartak, kid.
