Devils forward Paul Cotter will have a hearing for an illegal check to the head. They play on Tuesday and Wednesday and I doubt any suspension would carry over to the playoffs.

Disgusting. A professional ice hockey player knows how to avoid that without injuring someone. Sure he came over to Apologize, but at that point it’s too late.

2 games? Probably. Even with no history, that looks like a 3 game suspension to me ... pure head contact, looked targeted, resulted in a bloody mess ... but there's no way THIS league office extends that even one game into the post season.

You may remember that former Cap Chris Simon died by suicide last year at 52. The Boston University CTE Center reveal that he had Stage 3 CTE. Hopefully all the post-mortem exams will lead to someone, somewhere finding a diagnostic tool and treatment options so families can deal with it when the person is alive rather than find out posthumously.

Sadly, it seems like that will all have to happen without the help of the league ... since they're still focused on liability to the point of hinting BU's CTE work isn't medically sound, even if they never come out and say it.
