Geez, I hope Bentancur is okay. That looked nasty.
Tough draw for Spurs vs Leicester. Had the run of play in the first half but in the second? Not quite so much. Vardy equalized, then Leicester held on. Be interested to hear how our resident Spurs fan saw it.
You pretty much nailed it….we dominated ridiculously early on (10 - 1 in shots, 5 on target) but just weren’t clinical enough in our execution.
Solanke was one of the best strikers week one, in terms of being a threat
(per FPL he was actually #1) so that was real encouraging given we know he’s a strong finisher. So seeing him make the right runs, get on the end of a number of headers, etc….that was almost as important as whether he scored or not.
Bentancur injury was brutal, and it happened like 16 yards from where he tore his ACL at that same park just over a year ago. Crazy.
I was encouraged seeing Bergvall (who I’m massively bullish on) and Archie Gray both get significant minutes in the second half. Gray is a great talent, and worth every penny we paid for him….but Bergvall for €10m might be every bit as good, and maybe even more integral to the current squad. (Ange even had Bergvall taking corners after Maddison came off)
Brennan Johnson had a really poor game, didn’t make use of his speed at all and was hampered more than anyone by how deep Leicester played all day……noteworthy that Ange didn’t bring on Kulusevski for him either, but rather played him more centrally, and then had Werner come in to play RW instead. Suspect that’s a clear sign Odobert is our #2 RW, and could even start for games like this where his dribbling & take on abilities are more suited, with Johnson being a late game super sub again.
Maddison looks to be back in form as well, which is huge for us….was worried his lackluster play down the stretch last year after his injuries, might carry over into this season….but he looks to be in form again.
I’m pretty annoyed at leaving points on the table in SUCH a winnable game, but I’m hoping that maybe this misstep early will allow Ange to wake them up and get them playing how they can, before our big games against Newcastle & Arsenal come up.
Also for any FPL fans, it looks like Porro is back in training this week

after coming up limp late in the game. So he should be good to go for Saturday.
