2024 Draft

Being dominant in the MHL is like being the best concert pianist in Flin Flon. Utterly and completely meaningless. It's a garbage league. Anyone claiming that Demidov is the least bit projectable as a future NHLer based on his stats in such a Mickey Mouse league with weak competition is lying, eother to themselves, the rest of us, or both.

Take Senneke, Iggy, or Lindstrom.
Level of competition is the knock on him for sure, but not something he could do much about. But you're not alone in thinking that, I just think the talent is too big to pass.

(Paywall alert) Further cementing the notion that there isn't such a thing as a reach this year (within reasons). https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/55...ial-2024-scouts-executives-celebrini-demidov/

Best defensemen among scouts is all over the place, Leschunov, Silayev, Dickinson, Buium, Parekh and Yakemchuk all got mentioned.

2nd best forward is split between Lindstrom, Demidov, Catton, Sennecke and Iginla. Suprisingly to me is a lot of people picking Sennecke, good amount leaning toward Catton too. It just further confirms that Sennecke is not a reach at 5, the rankings this year are pretty much useless.

The only reason to move to 3 is to draft Lindstrom. Seems like Demidov will be available at 5.

Yup. Exactly. And it seems Chicago’s selection at 2 will have (kinda obviously) a huge impact on Anaheim’s point of view. e.g. If Chicago picks Demidov, then Anaheim will just take Levshunov and we’re stuck at 5. But if Chicago takes Levshunov, then Anaheim would get Buium/Dickinson/ Parekh at 5 and a trade might be feasible.

Of course, maybe Chicago takes Lindstrom and plunks him beside Bedard.

When you're that much better than the competition it looks like you're not trying

Chicago is drafting Levshunov.

Not one player from the Q in the first round rankings.
Nor should there be. The Q either has one generational or consensus, head and shoulders above everyone else, superstar who goes first overall or it has shit. Lafleur, Lemieux, Crosby, Lecavalier. But the Q doesn't play NHL style hockey and it is the weakest of the 3 junior leagues by a lot.

Sennecke is going to be a beast at some point

Grew half a foot so his skating and overall skills will need time

Probably fills out to 6`3" 205

Other than big Dick , I will take him over Demidov and Lindstrom
