2024 Draft

The Snake is a regular guest on Meatball’s podcast. That alone indicates that he likely possesses very little credibility as a hockey “expert.”
Boisvert's opinions are usually completely opposite to those of Mr. Meatball so that actually boosts his credibility even more.

I’ll say this: compared to Meatball’s other regular guests, like Button, Snake comes off as a genius. I still have no idea how Button was able to convince an NHL team to make him its GM, other than his family connections, but still why would an NHL team care?

One of the very rare things I like about Boisvert on Marinaro's show: It exposes just how fucking dreadful Marinaro is as an interviewer.

Regardless of what you think of Boisvert, he's no dummy. Sal believes for some odd reason that he lives in his parents' basement, which I still find odd considering Boisvert is releasing a movie he wrote, produced & directed, but whatever. Boisvert's got a wealth of knowledge and he knows his shit.

The fact that Marinaro can't keep a conversation going with him because he just doesn't like what Boisvert has to say is incredible. The amount of awkward pauses and silence is just dreadful to listen to.

But regardless, if you understand French, his podcast with Mathias Brunet (who the more I listen to, the more I find to be a eunuch) is more than enough. His yearly Drette Sul Tappe podcast appearance is always a must-listen.

I neither hate or love Boisvert but all these draft pundits (across every league) are just making educated guesses and so get plenty wrong about which kids will pan out

Which makes sense because even the scouting directors making huge coin make a lot of mistakes

Pretty much. He’s a bit of an odd duck, but he admits to his mistakes and explains his rationale.

All these “draft gurus” are F’ing weirdos to one degree or another. This is not a normal job, after all. They watch kids play sports all year despite not working for a pro sports franchise.

To quote him, "A future multiple time Norris winner."

Again, you don't know a thing about him & you dislike him. It's very odd. Have you bothered asking yourself why?
We live in a day & age where talent is found and paid top $ for … even NHL

The new breed of NHL owners coming in NJd, Canes, VGK, Pens, soon to be SLC are all hedge fund / investment banking types who come from a world of scouring the globe & poaching top end talent for top $$.

If “the snake” was this brilliant visionary he self professes to be or in his words he’s been “evaluating talent since his teens”, he would’ve been scooped up a while back

The fact no one… except some 2nd world QMJHL team has even offered him sniff at a job is telling

Or as the USNDP scouts always say to my some team, “if you’ve got talent don’t worry we’ll find you”

there are worst ways to make $$ than pontificate on watching your fave sport

That's a nice fantasy world you live in.

In the real world, though? Scouts have always, always, always (Boisvert included, who got his scouting job because Mathias Brunet's old gym teacher was the GM of a team in the Q and got him an interview) been hired because of people they know. Especially in hockey circles.

Dundon “didn’t know” Tulsky, Josh Harris & David Blitzer “didn’t know” Tom Fitzgerald or Katie Madigan, John Henry “didn’t know” Dubas etc

Strange that I write (and you bolden) scouts, then proceed to list a name of people... let me check... in management. A list of people who have never been either amateur or professional scouts at a single point in their careers. Oh, sorry, Dubas scouted a little in his early 20s, but that's really what got him into the door to be in the NHL.

Some of you have a real hard time understanding English tonight, boy.

People who get in the door to be scouts almost never get in through their competences. They get in because they're mostly former players who have a former coach or teammate in a team's management and try to climb the ranks. Or, in the case of Tom Fitzgerald, retire from being a player get right into a prime management position for an NHL team.
