2024 Draft

Yeah Eiserman could score 20 goals at the U18 and I don't think it will change the narrative. His goal scoring abilities are already well documented.

The only thing that worries me about Eiserman is his mental make-up.

After reading that Athletic article about him and how he always seems to be in his own head, could he strive in a market like Montreal?

Talent wise, I have zero issue with him. He's a gifted goal scorer and I wouldn't be mad if we took him at 5.

We need goals, he scores goals. In or out of his head he still scores goals. I'm not a fan of the number he chose for his jersey but aside from that I have no qualms because lots of goals.

There are players who just aren't made to be playing in markets like Montréal, hello Jonathan Drouin.

Article worth reading.
American athletes are also brought up in a culture that revels in the “star athlete” from a young age, it’s why Habs biggest success stories over last 25-years have predominantly been American players who’ve embraced the CH & the frenzy of the market.

It’s a generalization but I think there’s merit to it .

Don’t forget Subban who was too American for management

If Eiserman was a ti-gars I'd say you had a valid point but Americans thrive when they put on a Habs jersey.

Whats the word on Catton's hip injury?
Haven't seen any updates or more concrete information. My assumption is that it's relatively minor. Otherwise they would've opted for surgery. Maybe a hip pointer/strain. Having said that, if indeed he had this issue during the season as per below, he may have had even better production.

Yes.

I'd be shocked if Carolina offered him, though.
He’s never scored more than 30G and gets hurt almost every season, perhaps they don’t think he can achieve that next level.

I don’t know if Canes actually think that but trying to build a case for why they may even consider it

They have cap issues looming, but this is not likely how they resolve it.
Do they really, though?

They just have a lot of pending UFAs, but only have ~$60M committed next year. Most important player they have to re-sign is Necas and if they were really tight on money, I'd trade him before Svechnikov.

I suppose it depends how they want to extend the RFAs (including Jarvis) and which UFAs they hope to keep.

They have 27M to play with. There are 5 notable UFAs with cap hits at ~21M, the core RFAs and a bunch of support players.

Maybe they walk away from some of those UFAs.

If Canes offer up Svechnikov for 5OA do you do it? 5-years left @ $7.75M turned 24 past March
Interesting, value is there, legit big first line winger, but I don’t see why the Canes would want a 5th overall pick when they are in win now, and while the contract is good, I wouldn’t see us resigning him at 29 years old. I’d pass but there is certainly something to think about here.
