2024 Draft

I do think we probably take Lindstrom and I'm "okay" with that. I just feel that Dickinson is a player you end up regretting passing on. For a kid Lindstrom's size, playing against 16, 17, 18-year-olds... I'd like to have seen more offensive production. Obviously, he has the potential and "you can't teach size" so it's possible that he becomes a star.
Can’t have every prospect unfortunately….as Gorton acknowledged this is a big summer - a wrong turn / decision will be hard to overcome

I get that, which is why I think Reinbacher is gonzo. We needed Ryan Leonard last year, but for some reason they had a hard on for another D.
He’s not going anywhere, as for Ryan Leonard, HuGo would’ve had detailed insight and the fact they chose Redenbacher to me indicates they felt they found a unicorn.

Only time will tell if their evaluation was accurate, Slaf seems to have been despite all the naysayers..

I think Chris Bouchers influence on HuGo / Bobrov / Lapointe picks is having a positive impact but again only time will tell

The key is Chi - they lack top-6 size & top pairing Dman in prospect pool. Demigod doesn’t address their size deficiency but has potential to be top end offensive asset.

Ana & CBJ will go D I’m 100% certain of it (Levchnunov or Buium for Ana) - Demigod isn’t a Verbeek type prospect
How bad is Demodov`s knee injury ?

Both Demidov and Lindstrom fit needs but both have injury concerns, so bring them in, have your medical staff look at them and see who’s injury has the biggest long term problem. Reinbacher is not leaving for forward, they could if did that at last year’s draft. Don’t see them drafting a defenseman, unless they are moving one of their top defensive prospects for a forward.

Reinbacher is a potential 2 way horse like McDonough , tough to trade that player all teams need to win

you need to factor in that this regime values the character and personality as well when skill is on par. That's why they went with Slafkovsky. It's one thing to say this is the guy based on numbers but sit him down for an hour and find out who the kid is first.

and to be able to bring those components to the table in the demanding Mtl market - how many times do HuGo / Bobrov keep mentioning the need to get players who are able to handle demands of the Mtl market

Exactly. Don't need wilting flowers. Slafkovsky proved to us that he isn't one. He keeps pushing to improve. We've seen teams with wilting flowers, look great in the fall but come spring they die.

The old regime would have chosen Wright because Slaf was too "h'individualistic". I look at Slaf and I see a lot of PK in his personality. The Bergevin-Therrien regime would not have appreciated that.

Apparently he doesn’t need surgery - take that for what you will
That's good to hear. Even prior to his injury, my personal concern was putting his potential into perspective considering he's in the MHL. The MHL is thought of as less competitive than the CHL or NCAA, and has further been watered down due to less NA and other euro players playing in Russia due to the war. Having said all that, it's definitely telling that the Habs have had scouts watching him in person, not the case last year with Michkov.

Anyway, my gut says it’ll be Sennecke.
Love this player and his trajectory spike. The one thing that worries me a touch, is that after a blistering tear in the playoffs, he's been very quiet in the last several games. But from accounts of others who have watched, he's had and created a ton of chances. Just not translating to points atm.

He had a growth spurt and is now close to 6'4". But the one thing to consider is that Lindstrom is a centre and Senneke is a winger.

Here's a good snapshot into his offensive skills. Actually, one-on-one, reminds me of Catton. Same kind of elusiveness, and how he exploits defenses. But Catton is definitely faster and a superior passer. But Sennecke is huge. Bit of an awkward skater still. But to be expected considering his insane growth spurt during the season. Intriguing prospect.

Unfortunately the last beast-like player from the Oshawa Generals we drafted in the first round was Mike McCarron.
