If the habs are targeting a forward at 5oa (which is likely unless Levchnunov is still there) and with demidov gone, Lidstrom is the likely target. Hughes wants to get bigger and lidstrom also has the skills to back it up. Is he another Dach? not sure, but having both is not that bad. One of them could just be moved to the wing (who ever is batter at faceoff can be the center).

A second line of Dach, lidstrom and Newyook would not be bad but Dach needs to show he can stay healthy. If he gets injured again, Lidstrom can take over center over Newyook.

Not a fan of Lindstrom. I think he’s going to bust or just be meh. Demidov would be a dream. I don’t like this organization coming flat out and saying they want to take a fwd though, yes we all know we need one, but no need to tell the 4 teams ahead of you your game plan. Good chance they could go fwds and were left picking a D, reaching or trading down. Unless, of course, we trade up..
 
I do think we probably take Lindstrom and I'm "okay" with that. I just feel that Dickinson is a player you end up regretting passing on. For a kid Lindstrom's size, playing against 16, 17, 18-year-olds... I'd like to have seen more offensive production. Obviously, he has the potential and "you can't teach size" so it's possible that he becomes a star.

it's not a 3rd round pick. I saw a screenshot of the article, they mention the habs would be getting a third 1st round pick in 2024, because calgary would trade them Vancouver's 1st for 2024. So, basically, we'd move down to 9 and get a low 1st round pick for it.

He keeps moving up the lists. Also, and as Boisvert mentioned yesterday, OHL players are more projectable than players in the other junior leagues and college ranks. So if a kid looks like the real deal in the O then he's got a good chance to become that in the show. And the stats seem to bear this out. As he said, if you look at all the top NHL forwards, you don't see many from the Q or the Western league. The ones from the Ontario league pan out more regularly.
 
As for Hughes saying that we're going with a forward... that's a pretty loose interpretation of what he said. Watch him answer at the 6 minute mark.

He says "all things being equal, they will take a forward." If they think Sam Dickinson or another D is better than Lindstrom, Catton or Eiserman, they might go D.

That said, I'm sure they do go with a forward. Hopefully, somehow, it's Demidov.

I've been watching highlights of Lindstrom and Sennecke... obviously that's not as good as actually scouting or watching actual games. However, from what I see, I would take Lindstrom over Sennecke. I would definitely like to see us find a way to move up from WPG's pick to get Sennecke though.

Like, if they truly feel he's worth a top 10 pick... then they would be willing to pay up to walk away with both players.
 
There's probably 0 chance we take Sennecke over Iginla. But if Parekh is there, I don't see how we can't not take him. You trade Reinbacher and keep Zayne.

Zayne is going to be >>>>> Reinbacher. Parekh has top 2 potential. Trade Reinbacher + pick for a forward.

The key is Chi - they lack top-6 size & top pairing Dman in prospect pool. Demigod doesn’t address their size deficiency but has potential to be top end offensive asset.

Ana & CBJ will go D I’m 100% certain of it (Levchnunov or Buium for Ana) - Demigod isn’t a Verbeek type prospect
 
this was all predictable going back to last year when we all knew we would need a forward in a d heavy class....I trust Hugo saw it coming too and has a plan

I get that, which is why I think Reinbacher is gonzo. We needed Ryan Leonard last year, but for some reason they had a hard on for another D.
