2024 Free Agent Frenzy

Not much of a shock, really. He was probably the best center on the market
 
That one makes zero sense to me. Stevenson is a 30 year old who has been a 50/60 point player (with good usage and linemates) with exactly one 20 goal season to his name. If he's got another gear, then I cannot imagine there was more than one team thinking so. This is a $3.5 million bump in pay. Ronnie? Are you OK dude?

PS ... he also gave Montour $7 million over 7 years today. At least he's a guy who can run your power play. Pretty obvious somebody in Seattle told Francis to make make some stuff happen today.
 
Speaking of mysterious developments ... old friend and Canes legend Martin Buy A Vowel Frk is back. Calgary signed him to a 2-way deal after his European exile.

In other old friends news ... Foegele and Edmondson both signed with the Kings.

Edmunson at almost $4 million x 4 is just plain batshit crazy for a guy with that many miles and injuries on the odometer!
 
Edmondson has been hit and miss the last couple of years. He was pretty decent in a low key way this past season and apparently resurrected his reputation. Still, 4 years of him means you might get one good one.

It's not like they haven't been working on it. Like the thing with Slavin, with Waddell gone there's nobody in Carolina's front office leaking info. Best not to assume silence means inaction.
