It's not like Matthews, Nylander and Tavares played great either.

Getting rid of Marner isn't going to solve all the problems. It's just the first step. But the entire culture of mediocrity and acceptance of failure needs to change. There needs to be consequences attached to losing.

When a bunch of these bums get photographed 2 days after being eliminated sitting in the country club like they dont have a care in the world it's a bad look. It tells your fanbase that you dont really give a shit. And, let's face it; they don't because no one is making them.

And people want to complain about the media in this City. Nowhere else would they even think to ask is " player x with no awards, records, playoff success and bitch like tendencies a HOF before he even fucking left yet.
 
Fwiw, if we traded Matthews this summer he would be a jersey retirement eventually. Marner doesn't have anything remotely close to this pedigree

- Calder (1st Leaf since the 60's)
- Hart (1 of only 3 Leafs ever, first since 54-55)
- Ted Lindsay (Only Leaf)
- 3x Rocket Richard (Only Leaf)
- 2nd in goals as a Leaf, only 19 behind Sundin for 1st.

Not petty. Goring won Cups. Tavares never won shit. He doesn't deserve to have his number retired. You should have to actually achieve things to get your number raised to the rafters. All Tavares ever was on Long Island was the best player on a dogshit team. But the Isles have won 4 Cups. They arent some flavor of the month expansion team that's never done anything.

Let Marner go to Seattle and become the greatest ever Kraken.
 
Based on all the silly interviews with Marchand it's clear he's sending out a signal to Tre that if he's willing to pay he will sign.
