Imagine if the cherry on top of this leafy shitcake ends up being that we trade everyone only to find out at the end that Matthews was the real loser and can’t win with anyone.

and I think you're ignoring the fact that Mitch Marner doesn't make your team elite when it matters, so what's the point?

Serious question. Would you rather restart this year's playoffs right now with Mitch or with Bennett + Boeser (and sub out one piece of shit winger who did nothing for us)?

I'm saying that we can replace or improve on what he does for us in the playoffs for that 13.5 millie he wants.

I'd rather go into the playoffs with a #1d above all else. I'm not even saying it's possible to get one, but Willy is their only chance of getting one beyond finding a random fluke.
 
Marner’s money ask offends me. He can’t ask for more than Matthews, Rantanen, or even Willy if he’s being objective. He has no right to $12m or more.

Fwiw every single option/idea I've heard, including my own, sucks and I hate it. But at this point it's about choosing the least shit path to next year.

Kidding aside, if we're letting go of one, I might almost be inclined to let go of all and start fresh.

But like Presty said, that's not any better an option than the rest.

And the fucked up thing is, staying the course is very most likely the best option, but one that no one can easily tolerate.

What's our definition of elite talent though, and elite when? Mitch isn't an elite playoff performer by any stretch of the term and we have enough sample now to expect it to be something durable about him and his game going forward.
