2025-2026 Off Season Thread - The Rehappening

And this obviously isn’t the ā€œbig swingā€ winger, so there’s something else coming. And that means Kampf and Krok salaries definitely need to move to accommodate it.

You say this, and i acknowledge it's the most likely, but its also possible that Maccielli is the top 6 guy they bring in and Joshua is the bottom 6 guy that brought in and this is kinda the team.

Possible, but doubt it. Too many loose ends still.

Kampf and Krok for sure going.

Robertson not signed, probably because he’s being dangled in trade talk.

Still no offense added to the D, which I think they definite want to do. Which means one of the existing D would be shipped out, with Carlo being the likely candidate.

They still need to find a winger who will reliably replace some Marner offense.

I put it at 10% that there’s no additional big move coming.

I'm also a bit confused....Joshua is a 4th line LW, no? I thought we already had one of those in Lorentz. This can't be a 3rd line addition, can it?

He is a larger, angrier Jarnkrok.

Fwiw, I'm disappointed that Jarnkrok's salary didn't go the other way here but I'll reserve judgement on that.
He’s worth more than a 2028 4th, so there’s only reason to throw him in if they’d have retained on our new DJ. Krok will return some actual value.

I was thinking the same and I think it is. They’re hoping he replicates what he did two seasons ago. Or they wouldn’t be so insane to get a $3m guy to get stuck on the 4th line.

So...the good news is that his nerdies were only a little bad last year in extreme defensive usage but really good the year before, also in pretty heavy defensive usage.

The bad news is that probably means he's meant for Nic Roy's wing and they're building a defensive 3rd line.

His upside is ok 3rd liner if he can get back to his outlier season form. But he's most likely just an expensive 4th liner.

But a super elite 4th liner who can do sexy possession stuff, and hits people.

Pretty ideal 4th liner tbh, if only he wasn't making what he makes and won't almost definitely be fastented to Nic Roy's wing with some form of concrete.

There's his 18 goal season there. Let me TLDW it for you: Connor Garland (who is very good) does some things with the puck, Joshua goes to the front of the net. Connor Garland does a thing with the puck to put it in front of the net and the puck goes in off of Joshua, or rebounds to Joshua and he puts it in the net.

Not that going to the net is bad of course, but imo we're short on Connor Garland's, not Dakota Joshua's.

"Standing his ground in front. . . ." Well, shit - prob'ly a cool thing to have a #81 on the team. Exotic allure. 😊
