2025-2026 Off Season Thread - The Rehappening

Not that it necessarily would have changed the outcome but Woll was pretty shit except for Gm 6.
He is what he is, a 1B that cant really stay healthy or string together multiple great games.

I do think if Stolarz plays the entire series it could have been different. Woll was bad in game 3

Hes right. I suspect he is hurt but Tkachuk was invisible and not a word has been said about it. The upside of playing in a city where you're the 6th most popular sports team

Also they keep winning and showing up in big games.

He wouldn’t hear it in Toronto either if the roles were reversed. He’d be the biggest hero since Baun.

Bob wasn't any better. Don't agree that you need a rare unicorn stud #1 (only like 2-3 exist these days) to win a cup. Woll is fine. Stolarz is fine. Just outplay the other team in every series and you're likely gonna win the cup unless your goalie is Kallgren or some shit. But other than that they're mostly all the same and in a small sample, there's not much predictability on performance. It's often quite random.

The days of Corson/Roberts/Tucker dying to be Leafs is probably dead due to the emergence of social media. I just dont think players want to deal with this shit, and just win elsewhere and be left the fuck alone.

John Tavares who might be literally empty inside and void of emotion might be the last case of a Toronto boy coming home. The guys that do sign are probably just doing it because it's the best financial offer they get.

You know these were not exactly huge accomplishments. One goal in games 4-7?

What did he do yesterday in the clincher that was different or better than the other guys? Nothing.
It was a weak ass muffin goal too tbh. Love Auston and I do agree that Mitch is far worse (at least Auston was a defensive monster and completely neutralized the barkov line), but no excuse to be this shit offensively playoff after playoff.

Yeah, a constant complaint of mine is that Matthews’ resting face during the games is morose, dour, and beaming the expectation of ultimate defeat. There’s zero winner energy coming off him, like there was all season while potting 69 goals. He has the face of a dead fish in the playoffs.

Woll put up an .886

That's terrible however you want to slice it. Bob wasn't great, but was good enough for them to win with.

The worst part about all this is that, unless there’s some really shit coaching every year that holds these guys back, there’s no fixing this. Every year, I say either the big boys need to show up or we gotta get some more legit scorers. This time we had Knies, McMann, and Robertson.

The first one went cold like the others, the second one never scored a goal, and the third one wasn’t allowed to play despite putting up points.
