Hiring a new president and forcing him to keep the GM is dumb, as is forcing a GM to keep a coach.

This shit has been backwards.

Even if you think Berube did a good job, or Tre had a good offseason, the new guy you hire must be able to start the process in his own image immediately, otherwise what are you even doing?

Decent bet Tre is just promoted to avoid this.

Yeah, clear the decks. including Berube, who just got dog walked by Maurice. coaching was another battle that we lost in this series. no major lineup adjustments, tactical adjustments, etc. just the same thing we've seen over and over here, "work harder".
 
Marchand mentioned that one of the turning points was a Maurice tactical adjustment after game 2 and another one after game 6. It's true that only one guy was actually coaching this series.

If management didn't keep dragging us deeper and deeper into this boring, gritty, grindy bullshit, id feel a bit different. but yeah, when you're going to give me a boring team to watch and have them fucking embarrass us over and over again...

I just want fast, entertaining hockey. Lots of teams play it. lots of teams have won with it.
 
I really don't get the hatred here at Berube.

His first year, got these guys to play north/south and Florida just dumped and chased their way to a series win. The only difference is the forwards chasing for florida were relentless, hit every time and gets the puck back. Matthews, Marner, JT, Willy, and pretty much everyone besides Knies, Holmberg, Laughton, Lorentz and Domi can't play that hard to get the puck back, and therefore when they try to carry it in, it doesn't work.

Tre and Berube built a decent team that took the cup champs to game 7. The talent didn't show up cuz they couldn't get the puck in the ozone.
Not tough enough, and I know there are so many on here that don't agree with any of that... but the "Talent" hasn't showed up ever.

Maybe... maybe Marner does a sign and trade and maybe... maybe he might want to go to Pittsburgh with Dubas IF Crosby chooses to stay.
Then a sign and trade for Karlsson

You sign Bennet for certain. I don't care WTF you arm chair GMs think. Bennet can handle this Toronto pressure because his game is not solely based on talent with time and space.

UFA wish list 1. Marchand, 2. Boeser/Ehlers 3. Donato 4. Kuzmenko, 5. Mangiapani 6. Jeannot for 3rd/4th line.

They have to put in 24 hr days because all the juicy offseason shit happens over the next 40 days

And there is nothing concrete indicating Sam Bennet is responsible for the culture in Florida. Or if he is what % of it he's responsible for or if that can be transferred to an entirely different group.

He's a good to very good player that is going to be paid like a great player for unquantifiable reasons from a desperate team.
 
It’s not the culture. Dude shows up every game including big games. I mean hes on Team Canada and was one of their best players in the final.
 
Marchand added oomph to that “3rd line”, he made Bennett’s line the real 3rd line

I legit didn't notice any of their big players. If I had to judge Tkachuk based only on what I've seen of him in our two series against him, I'd say he's an overrated piece of shit, maybe even a bust. I would never think this is a guy who puts up points in the regular season and has been a key player on a cup team. Same for Barkov. The only reason I notice Bennett is that he's busy concussing guys like Knies and Stolarz.
