Yeah, that was the biggest failing. None of the guys they brought in ever won anything before they got here.

They're still young enough at 28 to turn it around, but they need someone to help. And literally the only someone I can think of who might be available and who's still an impact player is Crosby. I don't know what it would take to pry him out of there, other than Crosby himself deciding there's no point to any more time in Pittsburgh and wanting to accept the ultimate challenge and forcing his way out.

If we had the two firsts and Minten and Grebs that we blew on Laughton and Carlo, I might see some way.

There are very, very few ex players among NBA top executives. Ainge, Dunleavy, Langdon. Maybe a handful more if you consider the top 2-3 guys in each front office as a "top executive". NHL front offices are fucking loaded with them.
