2025-2026 Off Season Thread - The Rehappening

Did anyone ask him about wasting so much money on kampf and krok.

Or zero goals from the laughton line.
Nope. But he said he thought Laughton was a good add and fit in well.

He also said that they like the D, but they need more offense out of it, including better puck moving and creation, not necessarily goals. It seems like he’s going to try to make at least one change of significance there.

He did agree that their d need to do a better job of skating and moving the puck better, creating chances, etc but said he's not sure he'll be able to make personnel changes back there (but won't rule it out). Could be just tweaking tactics

(Listening now so just yammering as he says shit)

Nobody asked whether he thought getting heavily outpossessed every game was a winning strategy?

Mitch definitely told him he wants out and it didn't seem like Brad was too upset about it
I didn’t really get that feeling. I think the point he was getting across is that it’s still too fresh for both sides and that they shouldn’t talk for a bit. He said that situation could take some time.

In contrast, he said he wants to sign Knies asap.

Actually yes. Matt Larkin did. That was the most interesting question and answer.

Said he agrees with Matt that blocking shots is not necessarily a good thing because it means you're getting hemmed in a lot. And that he needs to consider tactic changes or personnel changes on d, though he did admit that may be tough with everyone under contract.

But also defended tactics in the same breath, saying it's by design and that giving up volume and reducing high danger stuff is part of the plan. He likes the d, he likes their length, etc. but he agrees they need more offense and puck moving and thinks it doesn't have to necessarily mean acquiring new players to do it.

They did actually ask him about that and he acknowledged that they had a problem. He said they were looking to eliminate the grade A super dangerous chances against in building this D.

So he said everything while still saying nothing

He talked about the main issues.

He said while losing like we have over the years gets us experience, it also leaves scars. And that a big issue is between the ears. The first goal in game 7 caused them to crumble. They need to fix it with guys who can keep the calm. Said winners know how the stay calm. He’s definitely going to chase some Panthers UFAs. Called Florida the gold standard.

Also said there needs to be a change in the dna, which means the core 4. It has to mean he wants to move on from Marner and mix things up. I think he wants Tavares though so when it comes to him it probably is just a tactic to get his price as low as possible.

I think he likes the team. He wants to make a big change in Marner out and a couple of Panthers in, and to see if he can get another offensive D. Not sure who he’d dump from the D to do it, but my guess is that OEL and Carlo are the most likely to be vulnerable.
