2025-2026 Off Season Thread - The Rehappening

He wants to stay....for 14 million and everyone to leave him alone.
That was the situation before. He knows that's impossible now.

He would stay at a lower number, but what that is, and whether the Leafs would offer it, is unknown. If the Leafs went through the motions of making an offer when they don't really want him back, but would take him at the right price, I'd guess Tre would table $11.5m. Same as Willy, less than Rantanen, still arguably a fair price (and if not, then call it the hometown discount that we've never gotten). He'd make his arguments about why it's too low, or maybe they'd present it as a take it or leave it, no countering accepted. Would he take it? I think he'd maybe just try to cut down the term, so that he'd give himself a chance to make good in the playoffs, maybe two years, maybe one year, and try to do better again soon. But he'd take that if that's all they offered him.

I just don't think they're planning to offer him anything based on today's presser.

There's a salvadoran spot at Finch & Weston by the 400 the wife and I go for San Concho and papusas that is ghetto looking but the food is legit

The guy paid a team to protect him from social media, and every response he's ever had to any question reads like a guy saying what he thinks people want to hear.

He's a soft bitch and im guessing he wants out of the spotlight.
He knows that winning fixes everything. Playing for the Leafs is all he ever intended to do since he first put on skates. Leaving while there's a chance that staying means that he might be the all time franchise leader in points and assists some day, and be a hero if he's on a cup-winning team, is undoubtedly an intolerable result. There is a less than zero chance he wants out of any spotlight. If he did, he'd have gladly taken the Carolina trade and their $12M.
