Calgary's on the (hyper) NA continent, yeah?Willy was born in Calgary, but good point
He'll be a healthy scratch.First game back will be a fun one
Doesn't make sense to you, because in his place, like any fan, you'd play for free. But the reality is that playing hockey is Marner's JOB. Bucks before pucks. It doesn't make sense.
Au contraire, it's perfect for a mediocre GM because it's a market that doesn't rely on winning in order for the franchise to be financially successful.Treliving should never have been hired in the first place. This market is a job for an exceptional GM, not an average or below average one.
Fans in Florida will have forgotten that hockey exists about 5 minutes after the last game ends. And that would be true whether they won or lost. They aren't hockey fans, they're Panthers fans. And hockey is just a distraction. In Florida, and most everywhere in the US,there is only football season, and waiting for football season. This idea that Toronto is the only place where there's pressure is ridiculous.
He's not going to escape pressure in Vegas or LA. Sure, it's not as intense, but it's still a big deal. If he was on Florida right now and they lost the next two, he'd be feeling it.
It's not about being Swedish, it's about not being coddled little bitches. Salming and Sundin didn't have helicopter parents like Marner did. Their lives weren't staged managed from a young age like his. Marner is a product of his upbringing. His father was an entitled cunt and so is his kid. No character whatsoever. No ability to deal with adversity aside from calling Daddy and asking him to fix it.I think being Swedish has something to do with it, but not necessarily because of Mats and Borje. For the most part, they all seem to just be chill guys who don't let the external shit get to them.
I'm not really worried that Mitch Marner is suddenly going to morph into a Frank Mahovolich because he's away from all the big meanies in Toronto
mid DecemberAt what age will he change his mind and want back.
San Jose has a ton, of cap space and some excellent players ( including 2 of this year's London Knights) in the pipeline. Not sure any of the rumoured teams are that good. The one wildcard is Utah. Great future.
Mahovlich was a leader. He went to the Habs on my 5th birthday and was the key to them beating the defending champion Bruins and eventually the Cup. People still talk about that trade today. The Habs traded a future 50 goal scorer in Mickey Redmond to Detroit to get the Big M so it's not like it was one sided. But Mahovlich, in addition to his talent, provided the Habs with intangibles that Marner doesn't and probably never will have.I'm not really worried that Mitch Marner is suddenly going to morph into a Frank Mahovolich because he's away from all the big meanies in Toronto
The 1971 habs were a very strong and deep team. ( impossible to believe that they missed the playoffs the year before).Mahovlich was a leader. Marner wanted to be "the guy" in Toronto but he will never be that. Matthews is that guy. Mitch is only a support player. A good one, but not the leader. Matthews isnt that great a leader either, but he's got more jam than Mitch.
Marner should go to Utah considering he's a mammoth twat. Not sure any of the rumoured teams are that good. The one wildcard is Utah. Great future.
