Some of the numbest of nuts have also been great human beings FWIW. Not Washburn though. Some guys are just bad human beings. There's absolutely no sense in pretending otherwise because they play for a team you root for. Shack was an OK guy, but he was dumber than a bar of soap. Everybody knew it, so people sound like idiots when they act like that was some sort of media hype or whatever.
 
Wow. I just got the email from the Canes for the December home schedule. If we stay healthy we ought to be able to pile up some points there.
 
Given that they're starting their annual everybody gets the flu festival early this year, that "if" is carrying a lot of weight.
 
Can't speak for Kooch because I haven't seen him since Nov 17, but Miller definitely looked like he had noticeably slowed down by the end of that game in Buffalo. No shock that he was less than 100%. So many guys were off in that game that it's hard to know what was illness and what was just playing a day game in Buffalo after a long flight from Winnipeg and a few too many wings at the Anchor Bar

I can confirm as a butterfly expert that those ones on the helmet are not native to Sweden.
Really cool helmet though.
 
The team is practicing today. Staal is back, KK is skating in yellow as a placeholder for Carrier. Kochetkov and Slavin are still MIA.

The strain of flu those guys got was no joke. Staal was out for a solid week and Kooch is working on the same. Normally they pump those guys full of fluids and get 'em going in 3-4 days.
 
Didn’t see this until later. Nikishin is on PP2, but that may because Miller is on the PK. After his laser yesterday, he should be a permanent addition.

PP1: Aho, Ehlers, Jarvis, and Svechnikov with Gostisbehere
PP2: Blake, Hall, and Stankoven with Nikishin and Walker
 
I thought Robidas acquitted himself pretty well. They didn't really shy away from putting him in tough situations and let him play center ... unlike a lot of of the Canes AHL callups. He was decent, but obviously still needs time to grow his defensive game.
