I'm trying to think of a reason why, 1 day away from the final game before the trade freeze, the Canes would care if we made a trade we wanted before the Olympic trade freeze or after?
The only differences at this point are:
* If the trade SUBTRACTS from our cap hit, we would bank more cap room over the next 3 weeks than we would if we waited
* If we are trading away a player who is going to play in the Olympics, we want to do so BEFORE they potentially get injured playing for their Country
Unless the trade is just a dump of Freddie or KK, I don't really see any trade we make leaving us with a smaller cap hit.
As far as Olympic injury goes, only Freddie would potentially fall into that category, and what other NHL team would even consider making a trade that involved Freddie right before the Olympics?
None of that makes sense to me, so I'm calling BS on Pierre Lebrun's comment (if he really made that comment).
Well it passed at 3pm today so unless they did something that just hasn’t been announced, it’s a moot point
