2025-26 Hurricanes Prospects and Minors Thread

Not many of our Pre-2024 draft Russians seem to be anything special. Maybe Alexander Perevalov, but none of the rest of them did much of anything in terms of production this past season.

Some of the 2024 kids, especially Kol and Shokhrin (both 6 round Dmen) showed some signs. 2024 2nd round pick Nikita Artamonov looked like he took a step backwards. The 2025 kids are all too young still to know how their careers will pan out.

Other than Kochetkov, we haven't really hit on any of these Russians. Frolov is probably our best Russian prospect not in North America, and he was injured for most of the past season.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Nadeau. There is no spot in the top 6 for him unless we are moving Hall down, and then that makes Stanoven's line too unphysical.
As much as I’d love to see him on the PP with that huge one timer, I think he’s more likely to find playing time somewhere else. Again, all bets are off until this playoff campaign is finished. If it goes well, then there will be less inclination to change things … which might open up opportunities for Nadeau here.

Yup. At this point the general idea with those Russian long shot guys (which is what 90% of them are) is to let them cook in the various Russian leagues and hope a couple of them bloom late.

And I hope that if Carolina is going to continue this Russian prospect strategy that they’ll commit more resources to in person scouting. Up until now it’s felt an awful lot like throwing darts while blindfolded. I really didn’t like the time when the Canes just avoided Russians altogether, but this idea of leaning into that market and just hoping for the best ain’t really hitting on much either.
