The Caps fired assistant coach Mitch Love after he was given a season-long suspension by the NHL after the league concluded an investigation, reportedly for allegations of domestic abuse. The Caps had placed him on indefinite leave on September 14, but the investigation had started earlier; he interviewed for head coaching positions in Pittsburgh, Boston and Seattle and they were reportedly all aware of the investigation at that time.

It’s an upper body injury for Pesce and he’s out at least a month.Devils are going to be without Brett Pesce for a while. He has an upper body injury that might have been sustained blocking a Brent Burns shot.

IR is like his 2nd home. That shoulder has given him fits for years.
Which has me concerned about Jarvis’ chronic shoulder issues, although he’s managed to avoid surgery so far. But he does have a brace on it.

Necas gets the big extension in Colorado…
He talked about that some last season. He was going to wear the brace from the start as a precaution this year. But yeah, a surgery for Jarvy's shoulder is inevitable at some point.
I have no answer for that, and neither does Colorado's front office. The upside for them is that Necas is 3 years younger, but it's not like either of them has had an injury history and the Avs' Cup window is defined by MacKinnon's prime if you get right down to it.
I'm mildly surprised that Necas went ahead and extended, but I'm guessing his agent goosed his hot start into an extra $1-1.5 million AAV. Note that he's currently shooting 30-something percent, and that ain't gonna hold up for long.

He’s a good player who takes extended naps throughout the season. And pouts the rest of the time.
So ... we have last season and the first part of this one to provide evidence of this position and frankly, it ain't that compelling. He got his extra ice time, his first line usage, his 1st power play role and all the stuff that Carolina was supposedly robbing him of all those years ... and he produced basically exactly the same as he had been earlier in the year with the Canes. Actually, he produced counting stats at a slightly lower rate, but his expected goal share went up a bit so I'm willing to call it a wash. Now, he's got another 11 games in Colorado under his belt and while MacKinnon has been a holy terror and that line's expected goal share is in the mid-60s, Marty is producing 1.18 points per game ... while shooting above 30%. So, he's white hot and producing counting stats at pretty much the same rate he did in his best (partial) season in Raleigh.
If there's actual evidence that Carolina was "holding him back," it's pretty deeply buried. But hey. He got his bag and he's somebody else's overly dramatic winger now. Good for him. Carolina got a fair return for him, so I'm not complaining.
