The Panthers opened at home against the Blackhawks last year. On Tuesday, October 7. At 5:00. The year before, they opened on Tuesday, October 8 but at 7:30. The Blues and Kraken opened that season in Seattle at 1:30 pacific time, 4:30 eastern.

They could go the NFL route and give the champs a day to themselves. But this year is no different than last.

I’m pretty sure that the last 2 years have been like this. And it’s just as stupid this year as it was when you asked Florida fans to drive out to Sunrise for a 5PM start in the middle of the work week. But of course, it’s the TV audience we care about, so … do what it takes to wedge in that third game.
 
Winnipeg and Cole Perfetti avoided arbitration, 5 years/$6 million AAV. He has a 6 team NTC in years 3 and 4.
 
Now that Yzerman is out as GM, is Larkin going to shut up and try to help the Wings actually make the playoffs again or has he completely burned all bridges in Detroit already?

I suspect the latter … and I doubt he wanted out simply because he didn’t trust Yzerman. It’s going to take a couple more years to untangle that roster and he’s already a road worn-looking 29.
 
The Blues and Connor McMichael avoided arbitration, 6 years/$6.75 million AAV. He got a 3 team NTC in years 3-6, but it ends on February 1 of year 6 so he could be moved at the 2032 trade deadline.
 
The Habs and Kirby Dach avoided arbitration, 1 year/$3.6 million. He’ll be a UFA after the season.

Given me Logan Stankoven for 2 more seasons of term and $750k less on the AAV please. Thank you!

As ineffective as Stankoven was last season at faceoffs (44.3%), Connor McMichael was worse (42.9%).

Old friend Phil DiGiuseppe signed with Bjorkloven in Sweden. He spent all of last year with AHL Manitoba.
