2025-26 NHL Miscellaneous Thread

The last show I saw was BLS, COC, and some NW band that was pretty damned good. Pre-Covid at The Ritz for about $50. Mike Dean is a freind, so I usually would go see COC when they were in town. BLS, meh, my back gave out and Zak choking strings every fourth bar gets real old, real fast for me.

I came to like bar shows more than arena shows.
This!

Saw Negative Approach, Municipal Waste, and The Circle Jerks at the Cradle last night. It was $35 but 100% worth the money. My back begs to differ, but screw that damn thing anyway. NA was worth the ticket price alone. Best hardcore band of all time. Next show will be Public Image Ltd at the Lincoln Theater of all places in October.

I think I saw the Circle Jerks at the brewery in 1985.

Be a top 5 overall pick. ✅

Put up a couple of 50 point seasons on your entry level contract ✅

Get a massive 2nd contract with an 8 figure AAV ✅

All that is pretty standard these days. But "massive" meant somewhere between $5 million and $8 million just a year or two ago. It's sometimes a bit disorienting how much the market has changed. Partially thanks to the Flyers, of course. Those idiots cost several other clubs millions and millions of dollars with that stupid Carlsson offer sheet.

Trevor Zegras was given a penalty for having his jersey tucked in. It was the first time it’s been called in 13 years, I think the last was Alex Semin. Refs will start enforcing equipment rules per Elliotte Friedman.

This is exactly the kind of rules enforcement fans have been crying out for from the NHL for decades ...

Even for me, that level of sarcasm was a strain.

I see it now - Tkachunk brothers take runs at Fly and Jarvis with elbows to the head...... and get nothing. Canes get called for 3 minors for not tucking in their jersey

The NHL is entering the culture wars? Can’t figure out how and when to call goal tender interference, slashing, roughing, head shots, etc so we will emphasize a non-issue— tucking in a sweater. Well, as long as we “look right, we are right.” 😩😂

Elliotte Friedman says the league gave teams their first estimate of the 2028-29 salary cap. It’s projected to rise to $127.5 million, a huge increase from 2027-28.

The cap for this year is $104 million, next year is $113.5 million. The 2028-29 cap represents a 22.6% increase over this year.

Are you sticker shock prepared for $10m per, 3rd paring defensemen? 3rd line centers making $11m? It's coming. And goalies out here screaming for the scraps.

If goalies want to get paid more, then they should try being more consistent year to year. The ones that earn that trust make bank. It's pretty simple.
