There is no deal without a third team making the money work

Rants had to agree to this deal and the destinations were limited

Hawks could get a third for Hall closer to the deadline

Needed another asset to be the money broker

Looks like rantanen only gets 6m in real dollars this season so they got a third for hall as the money is a wash
 
I'm usually a guy who weighs out both sides, but I'm not on the fence on this one. Full credit to the nerd in Carolina. Excellent move on his part. Even if they don't resign him, its still an excellent move. Carolina has gotten one of the true cream of the crop players in the league, at a point in time where they were one of the true Cup contenders but needed a piece or two. Necas wasn't going to get them a Cup. Rantannen could. They still need a goalie though.

And they'll probably resign him.

Sold high on necas from a position of strength.
 
I don't think Necas can have anywhere near the impact on games as Rantannen, regardless with whom he plays. There is no comparison between the two.

Yep, Canes might be the favourite in the East if they can get Andersen back to form. I don't expect the Caps to keep this up.
