2025 NHL Trade Deadline

Look at the top 6 and top 4.

Next year we integrate Demidov. Then we need to make a decision or take action re: Laine.

Next year we integrate Reinbacher. Then we need to make a decision or take action re: Matheson.

I see no reason in the above not to stabilize the bottom six with Evans and Armia, especially if we hope to bring bring Beck and maybe Tuch into the fold. The top 6/4 argument, the perceived inadequate state I mostly reject anyway, is a non sequitur.

Nowhere near fixed? That’s absurd.
Geeman just wants us to lose so he can claim it is another 4 years before we compete.

Some people just cannot enjoy life.

I will say that @worm was correct in stating that it can be up to 18 months for an ACL to heal. Kirby started playing well at 15.5 months and now he is almost like the old Kirby.

Your shrooming again , team is nowhere near fixed

Half this team is gone in a few years
yes. And right now they are playing great hockey for a bit too much money for what they offer.

And if Josh and Brendan weren't there, it's not like we'd fill those holes any other way.

With the cap going up, Evans will be getting paid the correct amount for a fourth line centre on an elite team.

And we are very close to making that jump - much closer than you imagine.

But.

You've been wrong in your assessment of the team all year and you'll be wrong again.

I am profoundly grateful that you have nothing to do with running the Habs.

Having said that, I would be equally stoked to see you as a special advisor to either the Bruins or Leafs.

Please.

Go 'help' those teams win with your incredible hockey knowledge and team building acumen.

To replace a center like Evans through UFA you'll pay $4m.

He's worth $3m all day long in today's market. At 3.5m you're telling the player he's wanted here. As long as there's no NMC the fourth year shouldn't be an issue.

Yeah, instead of paying Danault 5.5, we spend a first and a second to get Dvorak at 4.5. Sure was worth it to save 1M.

But mostly, the team is in a much different situation now.
That was NERO BS at its finest getting DVO in a panic move

Team isnt much different and nowhere near a cup

A month ago team is drafting top 5 and now magically we turned the corner

Let this play out and dont fuck it up again

No need to pay bottom 6 good money and term yet

You dont need to spend 4 mil for a checking center in UFA

You end up trying to dump Goodrow types later

Teams are in salary dump mode and players are starving for work in August

It was, but... if he had signed Danault he doesn't make that trade.

Evans doesn't handcuff this team in any way.

How many guaranteed players on this current playing roster ( not including any future rookies ) are on this roster in 2-3 years
all teams change over time, that is the way it goes. The core going forward is almost set, get Demidov and Hage in and we are cooking with gas

Neither did Price / Gally/ Anderson contracts because we are shit

Habs are getting closer to being competitive and that extra mil or so here and there becomes so important filling the roster

Slaf gets his raise next year and Hutson soon to follow

Agreed. Almost everyone here was in the WTF opinion when he traded a first for Dvorak.
Team isnt much different and nowhere near a cup
Nobody thinks it is, not even management
A month ago team is drafting top 5 and now magically we turned the corner
We are now healthy and removing Primeau (-9.5 goals saved above expected, which means he was a bloody sieve) and replacing him with Dobes (+4.6 GSaE for a net change of 14.1 to the positive) compounded with replacing Barron with Carrier that has stabilized the D pairings and you get improvement. Why? Because you addressed key deficiencies.
Let this play out and dont fuck it up again
That's exactly what they're doing Mr. Magoo
No need to pay bottom 6 good money and term yet
They're winning because of the play of the bottom six. You're acting like they're offering Evans a Gallagher/Anderson type contract here.

You need to get out of your own way sometimes and look at the situation properly. You continually use "logic" presented in a vacuum and really need to wake up to the realities of the business. You are like Pronman, you get an idea in your head and no facts or logic can change it. Why? Because you think in a vacuum.

Roster in 2 years probably looks like

Caufield-Suzuki-Slaf
Demidov-Dach-Laine
Heineman-Hage-Newhook
Anderson-Evans-Gallagher
Beck/Roy/Kapenen (would jump in the lineup in place of Anderson/Gallagher if traded)

Hutson-Reinbacher
Guhle-Carrier
Xhekaj-Mailloux

Dobes/Montambault/Fowler
