2025 NHL UFA/Trade Thread

Absurd. We still have a top 3 prospect pool in the league and all our picks. Plus the Jackets 2nd next year. We have a ton of ammo.
Yeah but we’re not trading DR, Hage or Fowler, which is largely why we’re a top 3 prospect pool. If you want an actual top 6 center (not Trevor Zegras), Owen Beck et cie ne sont pas suffisant, mon cher ami.

Hage and our unprotected 2026 1st for Crosby?
I'd rather not trade Hage since his our future 2nd line center, that being said if push come to shove, I'd consider it.

Unprotected 1st is the starting point, probably add a 2nd round pick, plus a good prospect.

1st, 2nd, Xhekaj, Dach?

You’re making assumptions.

Picks always in play. It’ll depend on what the selling club needs.

I’m optimistic that adding Demigod, Dobson, Bolduc plus Reinbacher will move the needle
Demidov and Reinbacher are not ready to move the needle next season. I don't think the team have replaced the three forwards they lost adequately enough. If they miss the playoffs I will not be surprised.

If you think that adding Crosby makes us a legit Cup contender for the next 2 years, it's gotta be tempting.
I like Crosby for the culture influence he'll bring, he's going to make everyone better. But even with him, we'd be long shots for winning the Cup. Team is still too young.

Meh. Rookies can move the needle — see Hutson.

It’s not like Demi and Reinbacher are tasked with replacing departing all stars.

Plus, Zach will out produce what Emil gave us last year and most importantly— we replaced a #7 dman (Savard) with a #1 (Dobson). Upgrades don’t get any bigger.

Of course, lots of things can go sideways to harpoon our season but this offseason won’t be one of them

Yup, no issue with using our draft capital this year for a 25 year old 6’4” top pairing RD instead of a decent to good 2C. The opportunity presented itself and HuGo pounced.

Wise always errs on the side of negativity

I like the team's chances more in 2026-27. Then things will get interesting. Demidov, Reinbacher, Beck should all be over getting their feet wet and making contributions. And hopefully another key acquistion by Hugo. Hage may be ready to go from day 1 as a pro, after getting the proper college experience and coaching.
