2025 NHL UFA/Trade Thread

Realistically, you could probably get Trocheck for a reasonable for something like Beck and a top 5 protected 2026 1st.

He would be a fantastic 2C.
 
Of course, we never trade with Boston and Zacha has a 10, soon to be 8 team NTC so you can be sure the Habs are on it.

Kuznetsov could be a great little 1 year signing for Demidov. Chemistry, played together, can deal Kuzy at deadline if out of it, if he ducks, who cares, one year stop gap deal anyways

Plus, a shootout lineup of Demidov, Kuzy, Suzuki, Hutson, Caufield etc. I don’t think we’d lose to many of those
 
I’ve been expecting a Matheson trade for a while. lots of teams can use him… while he’s become redundant in MTL, as we already have non physical, puck moving d-men with Hutson and Dobs
 
Matheson, Beck and a 2nd should get you a very solid 2C. Make it our 2026 1st and you could potentially land a really good 2C.

Obviously, it depends on the other team's situation and needs.
 
More than half the teams in the league are looking to upgrade at 2C…. a trade might be easier in December

That also gives us time to observe Reinbacher’s development (or lack of) which would make Matheson even more expendable
