2026-27 Canes Miscellaneous Thread

This scares the crap out of me.
Hopefully the 2 year contract scares other teams off. That and his less than stellar performance for the Leafs last year. And the Habs the year before. And really every season other than 2019-20 and 2023-24.

Hopefully this move also may open up a spot for Nadeau...

He can’t be recalled until Sunday. The new CBA elimiated “paper” transactions between the NHL and AHL. They have to play in at least 1 AHl game before they can be recalled. The Wolves don’t play until Saturday, hence he can’t be recalled until Sunday.

It’s so ridiculous. We probably should give them bad reviews. I’m sick of the clueless spouting information like it’s some well informed expert take.
I just block them as they sprout up. I like info from sources I know, who's work has been around for a while. Even formerly respectable outlets like Sporting News are mostly AI-supported blog farms now, so you have to stay on your guard. It's just the way things are these days, sadly.

Nice looking drake Widgeon mount with a mallard easing into the picture. Are they from N.C.?
That also looks like a Johnson Silver Minnow Spoon on the spinning rod on the rack. I'm a fan, especially around grass or pads.
I took my first widgeon in the mid-70's at what's now called Fred Bond Metro Park. It used to be just a watershed lake in the woods a long ways from anything. There was one brick house nearby on High House Road that everyody called Rebel's Roost. That guy considered that area "his" and he'd shoot at you with bird shot or rock salt from a shotgun if you got too close or loitered by the dirt two track that went down to the dam. We used to call that place Lake Ass because a bunch of people got busted skinnydipping during school out there. It used to have a raft made of eight 55 gallon drums in an angle iron frame with plywood decking and some long poles & paddles to move it around. It was a great place to hunt, fish, or skip school. Good times!

Yes. The widgeon is from Knapp of Reeds Creek at Falls Lake. Everything was frozen. Scouted it the night before - lotsa ducks but thought it would be frozen over in the morning. It wasn’t. Everything else was. The Mallard was from Jordan Lake. Another cold day that one. There’s more on the other wall!

Yes it is a Johnson Silver Minnow on one of the spinning rods. They’re great for Red Drum too.

When did you gradiate h/s? One of my best friends from SoD is a Cary guy, 1981.
I'll have to ask him if he remembers Lake Ass.

No changes to the lines or pairings at practice. Jarvis continues in a yellow sweater, KK remains the odd man out among forwards. Kochetkov is in the starters crease, so he looks like he’ll be starting tomorrow, with Bussi going in Philly on Saturday.

This is how the Caps practiced today. First line PLD is a choice.

Tuch-Dubois-Wilson
Ovechkin-Strome-Leonard
A.Protas-I.Protas-Kyrou
Jenner-Sourdif-Beauvillier
Miroshnichenko

Chychrun-Roy
Hutson-Desharnais
Fehervary-Liljegren
Frank-McIlrath

Thompson
Lindgren

That's a pretty good lineup. Caps are going to be tough out this year.
They're deeper for sure. Not sure they did enough to address their D though, and they're relying on a number of fairly flaky guys like Dubois, Strome, and Chychyrun ... all of whom can be great one minute and terrible the next. Plus, you guys know what I think about that fraud Carberry.

Still, if Thompson can replicate his run from the past two seasons and they can figure out a post-Carlson power play that works, that's a playoff team.

I agree, that is a big strong forward group for sure, adding Tuch and the other Protas certainly enhances the size overall up front. That second D pairing hopefully gets exposed by the Canes, throwing out a rookie with Desharnais should be fun to watch.
