If he stays in Minny or goes UFA but not to NJD, then we'll know that the wanting to play with his brothers was BS from the start. Also, only Jim Rutherford has ever publicly said that he wants to play with his brothers, possibly to cover his own ass. I'm not buying it . . . yet.

It's a great deal for Vancouver, but that has nothing to do with my post. There's zero chance that Buium and Rossi make the Canucks better than having Hughes for the rest of this season. This trade does not, in any way take them out of the lottery. Great trade for the betterment of the franchise though.
I want no part of Pettersson, unless they eat half his cap hit... and the cost of acquisition is low. Neither of those things are happening.
Bro, the Canucks created their own problem here. They don't deserve kudos far making it less terrible. You had to trade a generational talent because you suck at building a team and team culture. Wow, great job!

Its a good trade for Vancouver in that, regardless of the created mess, they probably got the most they could have in the situation. I agree that it is not a trade you would normally initiate.

One thing I have little tolerance for is players whining and wanting out while under contract. (Tkaczuk, Hughes, whomever, whyever).

And I don't know if anyone has posed anything about the Skinner trade elsewhere. But, like Marty Biron on TSN this morning, I'm doubtful if that does anything other than continue the generational saga of Edmonton net woes. And to giving up a 2nd rounder and Kulak to boot....
Yeah, Jarry sucks too. In fact, Skinner might be actually be less bad (they both suck).

Not really. Quinn is a generational talent. None of the guys they traded are. Buuim, at best, is a Lane Hutson light. Rossi is a midget.
They took action and made the best out of a bad situation that hits other teams as well .
As mentioned regime overestimated their teams worth years ago
I think it's one of those win/win type deals... as long as Hughes re-signs. Otherwise, they need to win a Cup in these next 2 seasons to make it a win for them.
Zeev has huge upside, but it's extremely unlikely he ever becomes a Quinn Hughes.
Rossi is a nice player with nice upside but he's small and probably tops out as a good 2C. Obviously a real nice player, but not a Quinn Hughes type impact.
A late 1st is nice too... and Ohgren is maybe a depth guy.
A nice haul for a rebuilding team but also Quinn is a great get for Minny.
Oils had to try something and there are very few options

The best UFA goalie available next year might be Skinner FFS so Jarry for 2 years , give it a shot.
Its working for Colorado dumping 2 goalies and tying their new vet tandem .
