Hits stats aren't the most reliable, but i was thinking that the leafs didn't really put the pedal to the metal in round 1 - seen in both coach rolling the lines and pairs fairly evenly and in the hits being lower than usual. So i took a look at the leafs hits/60 in round 1 last year compared to this year,:
Well the dropoff in hits from the dmen is pretty striking at least. From the top 6 forward too for the most part. Though there's been an uptick from the bottom 6.

I always appreciate the concept of the more hits you have just means you don't have the puck. 15-5 shows you are a bit more in control.

Berube wants the D to collapse to the net and block the passing lanes/shots. They give up the perimeter where I think a lot of Dmen rack up hits, which also pumps the xGA.
The forwards are a bit surpsing considering how much they dump the puck. But most of them really don't finish checks. Just pressure the dman retreiving.

I have. Got bored of them. Then covid hit and I said screw it. I've been to every country in the Caribbean and most multiple times.
I've been focusing on Asia the past few years. Their wet markets are awesome!
