2nd Rnd '25 Playoffs: Leafs vs Panthers - Flo-Rida them onto the ECF - LFG!

We stood around and watched as they came. Yeah I mean he’s kinda right there.

The coach should have recognized and started adjusting (lines, tactics etc) after 5-10 minutes. Not wait until the end of the second to try to adjust the lines - and I didn’t see any tactical adjustments (or noticed). M&M had nothing for the first 40 and kept dumping them out there even after having nothing for 60 min the game before. Could have seen Woll was struggling after the first and made an adjustment before the game got out of hand. PP hasn’t been effective and basically no changes to strategy or players.

He’s right it’s on him too. We haven’t had a coach that can make adjustments - Maurice changed it up in game 3 and it’s now 2+ games later and our coach hasn’t recovered from it.

That said, I was waiting for that graphic of how shot 34 and 16 are (really it should be game 4-7) and we can’t have that much cap space put into guys that can’t produce (on scoresheet or even just to start with carrying the play).

They wouldn’t have won this game if they shuffled lines. The players gave a dud. Everybody was awful.

More just trying the same old lines and tactics after getting dominated - coach has to know better. Or find a way to wake the players up. Believe he was brought here for that mental side to get the players motivated. It’s well documented Maurice getting in their faces and waking them up as a changing point to their last season. Like at least try something vs standing there and wait until after the game to say he needs to better too.

Can be as simple as changing that first or second PP unit to any guy the coach thought was going better than 34 and 16. Put OEL, Robertson and whoever else on the first PP to shake shit up. Maybe we would have gotten that goal and the legs going (this core usually needed a team goal to get motivated).

ROR took one look at these guys and noped the fuck out of here. wow what a crazy nut, who wouldn't want to be 3C on the contending Maple Leafs right??

that was a HUGE red flag, as if all the other stuff hasn't been enough. that should have been a slam dunk signing fit wise.

Hopefully Stolarz is back from concussion for the next one. Maybe it'll shame these doucheclowns into giving an effort. And he might also stop the puck a few times.

I dunno. This theory might hold some water if ROR went to another contending team.

The fact that he chose Nashville, the most mediocre, middle-of-the-road possible team in a non-hockey market is where I think the his main motivation for leaving is that he just wants to be anonymous and quietly collect his paycheque in a no-pressure situation.

ROR was afraid of reporters. He got to go to a bad team and hide. That's not impressive at all.

The idea that players hauling in as much cash as 16 and 34 do needing a coach or needing literally anyone else to "motivate" them into playing the way they're paid to play is patently ridiculous. They are the leaders. They are the ones who are supposed to provide motivation for the other 18 guys, not the other way around.

This will be the 9th year in a row that I'm going to say this: you will never win a goddamn thing with this core. They don't have the intestinal fortitude necessary to win 4 rounds of the playoffs. They can't get themselves to that point and they can't inspire their teammates to get them there either. All they do is accumulate meaningless points in meaningless regular season games.

And yet, here you are, blaming yet another coach for not being inspirational enough.

I watched a spotlight on Marner from last night. Zero grit. He played scared of being touched.

That'll cost him in negotiations.
He's always been allergic to physical play which is his downfall in the playoffs. The spinorama wasn't some cute play he tried to pull, he saw a Florida jersey coming at him and wanted to avoid getting hit.

This has been obvious for years. You can't teach grit.

I still think some desperate team in a shitty or new market like Utah will still pay Mitch all or most of the money he wants.

He might be one of the worst playoff chokers of all time, but he will definitely help you a lot towards getting into the playoffs in the first place.

If any contender pays him thinking he’s their missing piece for a Cup run though, then they are out of their goddamn minds.
