Totally ridiculous , how we get in with our record

If the season resumes , play finish the year then best 3 , 5, then 7 for the playoffs

We have no business being in the playoffs

If Price steals 2 games which he is capable of that is totally unfair to the other teams. The Habs and Rangers are cash cows for ratings and they want the money.

Now , reports are 24 teams commencing play with a format to get to 16 for the playoffs

I wouldnt worry about Price , all he is stealing is money not games.

From what i gather the round robin there will be points awarded and the winner gets a bye. The remaining teams play the best of 3. Confusing. Now USA and Canada have agreed to a new extension of non boarding crossing.

assuming the ice is fine, and players do not get covid this could be the best playoffs ever and probably the first time the players have ever been this healthy

i dont think the NHL gets any money from increased ratings though - broadcasters pay a flat fee
broadcasters might get more money though
 
Worst outcome for us is to jeopardize our lottery odds right now

Its a solid top 8 draft , would be brutal to get out of the lottery right now with some luck in this new proposed format

Then we move down in every other round , not what we need right now

I cannot see this happening anyways. They want to give the better teams an advantage over teams like Montreal and i cannot blame them. But... if they do that we will want nothing to do with this nonsense. Why play for nothing. The players will say fk that

Teams like us and Chicago should have no advantage at all . We dont deserve to be in the playoffs

Our chances were about 1% to get in and we needed to run the table while other teams needed to go something like 3-9 , which was not happening

Its a joke how a team ranked in the bottom third has a chance to go deep in the playoffs

Unless they find a way to finish the regular season and modified playoff system , we should not be golfing til next year

They cannot finish the season now. If they want playoffs go with who was in when the season ended and 16 teams
 
Playoffs are fun, but I kinda would rather have a lottery shot instead.


Looking at the standings, one could argue that there is about 11 teams in each conference that were still in the race.
 
What about players who have contracts ending on July 1st? I do not see how the NHL can change legal contracts already made. For example if we wanted to sign IK why could we not? There is a lot of loose ends here.

that is easy to fix

you just sign a letter of understanding between league and players that contracts are extended until X date
free agency begins on X date
etc
