Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

think that is a bit more on point*
Then spend the asset the next time a highly touted guy like Vasi or Askarov is available in the draft and do not rush him.

You've been spinning your wheels in net for a long time, you can do so a few more years IF you have THAT guy coming.

except goalies in the draft are never a sure thing. you're investing years of hope, development, and voodoo powder.

we pretty much all support taking flyers on goalies in the later rounds and collecting a bunch and hoping one finds the right voodoo.

but there has been what, one Vasi in the last decade? hardly a strategy you can hitch your wagon to.

Every single highly touted goalie I've heard about in the past 20 years has made it. Who hasn't?

MAF
Price
Vasi
Rask

Etc

Or look at it this way, what you've been trying hasn't really worked. Get a highly touted stud draft pick and give him 2-3 years with the Marlies. You will still be using plugs during that time anyway.

And there's more than one. Shesterkin was highly touted just not at Vasi levels.

Askarov hasn't panned out yet but he will, I've no doubt.

There will be more, you guys excel at finding forwards, you can spend a first on a highly touted guy.

What's "making it"? Vezina? Cup win? Leading the league in SV%? Does it have to be the first team you played an NHL game for? Just curious what you define as making it.

I consider making it 60-70 games a year. A true #1. The numbers afterward are irrelevant to the point because if he pans out to a #1 the numbers are obviously good enough.

I still view a stud goalie as the guy that plays the real lions share. That's the guy that teammates really respect and trust in.

They were all top 10 picks.
I never said stupid picks by stupid GMS.

There are those generational goalies that get talked about. Your list aside from Dipietro ain't it.

Keep doing as you're doing though, Wehave loves it.

You literally named 5 studs in the last 20 years though.

The goalies drafted in the top 2 rounds that made the NHL in Shany era are:
2014: Demko, Nedejkovic, Vanecek
2015: Samsonov, Blackwood
2016: Hart
2017: Oettenger, Luukkonen
2018: none
2019: Knight, Kochetkov

Oettenger over Lilly, or Hart over Korshkov are the misses.

but even then its not like were talking about missing out on Vasy, Price, Fleury etc. None of those guys were better than Jack this year.
