Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

guy had a career .902

2 of 11 seasons above .910
Yeah he's definitely one.

Still though, you guys seem content with simply doing the same plugging every year. Why? You guys can find forwards in almost any round, I've seen this, that's your strength yet you completely ignore the weakness thinking it'll eventually luck out.

You literally named 5 studs in the last 20 years though.

The goalies drafted in the top 2 rounds that made the NHL in Shany era are:
2014: Demko, Nedejkovic, Vanecek
2015: Samsonov, Blackwood
2016: Hart
2017: Oettenger, Luukkonen
2018: none
2019: Knight, Kochetkov

Oettenger over Lilly, or Hart over Korshkov are the misses.

but even then its not like were talking about missing out on Vasy, Price, Fleury etc. None of those guys were better than Jack this year.
But zeke just said he's a bust?

I like Campbell. I also like Kuemper. I would personally stick with Campbell.

Oettinger was a luck out. If he really is the player he showed last season Dallas got very very lucky. Like Hasek lucky.

Leafs should have jumped on Askarov.

The discussion today is who to have for the next year. Maybe 2. Maybe.

yeah we're doing what Colorado just did.
I don't know the answer but how many cup winners in the last say 20 years win a cup after acquiring a goalie as opposed to those that had the goalie in the system?

Don't really get the point of bringing up Askarov. We weren't in a position to even draft him.
You're always in a position to move to that pick. It wasn't top 5.

If you wanted a stud goalie prospect you'd get one.

These quips show the mentality in the importance of a goaltender. It tracks.

Avs (Kuemper), Bruins (Thomas/Rask), Ducks (Giguerre) are the only ones in the cap era.

Before that a lot though Dallas (Belfour), Avs (Roy), Wings (Hasek/Vernon), Pens (Barrasso) etc.

It's not a quip at all. It's not like he was sitting there and we passed on him and we have no idea if they tried to move up or not.

Crap shoot. Boils down to preference I suppose. I prefer going with the guy I know. One in the hand as opposed to two in the bush so to speak.

You guys had 15. He went at 11. All I'm saying is that if a stud goalie in the system was high on the list for the Leafs they could have moved up.

Time will tell if he's for real. We'll know soon enough.

and it's not even clear that Oettinger over Lill was in fact a miss yet either

the proposed solution you suggest is basically impossible to rely upon is the problem.

jumping on Askarov may not have even moved the needle for any of the Matthews window though
