Yeah, they really did save themselves from a catastrophic summer. If they can sign Weegar to a decent contract, they make out like bandits.

Sure, but this one would be more like the Radulov pickup. If Monahan has a resurgence, is he really going to sign his next contract with Montreal? Doubt it. Habs probably doubt it too and would just flip him for something nice at the deadline.

I could see Calgary doing something dumb like Monahan + retention for Anderson + retention.

Their current forward lineup looks something like this:

Hubie-Lindholm-Toffoli
Mangiapane-Kadri-Coleman

and then kids and stuff. Could definitely see them interested in a Gallagher or Anderson as a win now move, which is the mode they have to be in with their entire core around 30.
 
My biggest worry was that He was going back to the avs on a sweetheart deal after they dumped EJ.

Now the Avs are officially down a 100pt pace C from last year with no replacement.

I wonder if Rantanen moves to C fulltime now.

They can't take much salary back for Monahan tho.

Hm. Didn't think they'd give him the full 7 years, but that's probably what he was holding out a month for.

That is going to be one of the worst contracts in just two years. And Kadri probably knows he won't be in Calgary longer than that, which is why he took the guaranteed contract and will play elsewhere before long. I'm sure that's what his agents must've been pounding home to get this done.
 
Lou's offseason has been bad, but even moves he actually did make 0 sense. He gives up his best trade asset for Romanov and he's not signed. And why didn't he use that for scoring? And with no Trotz, you gotta figure GA goes up.

Well if they want Gallagher then yeah I do that in a heartbeat even though Monahan also declined.
