What was his draft weight? He showed up to camp 238 pounds. That’s a lot of poutine.

Interesting vid. He can obviously move and be quick, but the overall speed displayed there wasn’t great. Felt like he was going to be able to blow past the dman there, but he was easily caught.Wright is probably going to be real gud. Just not superstar 1st overall caliber good.
This big winger the habs took might be junk though. Only seen him a few times, not impressed at all so far.
Was a bad draft tbh

As for what this Habs kid did in his draft season...jesus christ. Kasperi Kapanen type numbers. Our very own Mikko "Fear The" Kokkonen had a higher PPG as a 17 yr old defender in Liiga. Habs legend Joel Armia had almost double the PPG as a 17 yr old as their new #1 overall did.
Fire everyone whose eye test led to drafting this kid if he doesn't turn out.
Fwiw, I've got Nemec being the kid who makes everyone look back 2 years from now and wonder how anyone could think he wasn't dead nuts #1 the whole time if anyone does. It really wasn't an inspiring draft at all.
Definitely spending way less time paying attention to the draft these days but didn't realize his numbers in Liiga were that low.I don't even think it was even really mentioned in the Habs board Slaf thread. As for what this Habs kid did in his draft season...jesus christ. I mentioned it plenty leading up to the draft. Worse numbers than KK.Definitely spending way less time paying attention to the draft these days but didn't realize his numbers in Liiga were that low.I don't even think it was even really mentioned in the Habs board Slaf thread.
Seems very boom or bust to me.
Is he the club team version or international tournament version?
I'm still shocked wright fell to 4th.
YepI always lean toward the bigger sample being more representative. We see meh prospects have huge junior tourneys all the time and get overhyped because of it. Very rarely does a top prospect have mediocre or bad production pre draft and then go on to star in the NHL

Yeah, even with a bad draft, taking the HR swing at 1 is bold.Yep
That is why I wanted wright. And looking back at the thread after Slaf was drafted pretty much nobody wanted him.
I have no idea how to judge euro leagues though.
I think I still go by what I said at the draft
" this was "missed a season impact on wright" vs "which is the real slaf world stage or club team""
I also said I like homerun swings at the draft... Just not at first overall
