They are already 9pts out of the last wildcard slot, I can't imagine they are going to spend resources to go for it.

I wonder if the sens leaked this and think Tyler Boucher counts as a "top prospect".

Honestly not sure what the point is of sending real assets out to get rid of Zaitsev. He has one more year at 4.25 left, and you can bury just over a million of that if he's fit to play. Also, after July 1 next season when he gets paid out a 2 million dollar signing bonus, he's on a 2.5 million dollar salary. Should be easy to get rid of him for someone else's small problem contract (think Ritchie for Lyubushkin) after that bonus is paid.

Oh yeah, they definitely shouldn’t be sending an asset out to get rid of him. I don’t believe that part of the rumor. But I’m sure they’re looking for a taker.
