Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

Does Kuzmenko resign there? They have hopes he does but at 26 Im not sure hes overly interested in a rebuild by that mess of an organization

Like many Im sure Dubas will be all over it if they are looking to deal him

problem is, much like edmonton, Canucks have plenty of skill up front but only play for offense, with no defensive ability or effort. I don't really trust their players' offensive totals, tbh.

isn't their D corps pretty putrid as well?

I have memories of an OEL-Myers 'shutdown' pair...

can we add the Nucks to the list of teams whose management were tricked into thinking they were much better and farther along than they actually are based on some very limited sample size playoff success?

Kuzmenko would be a sweet get as a UFA. same age group as the core.

Kinda but maybe not quite. They have/had a good core, just terrible management that spent all their cap on legit terrible players. It's atrocious spending.

man, Jimmy is really setting out to seriously tarnish his legacy here.

should have rode off into the sunset with his Matty Murrz cups
The old guys are really struggling right now who have good reputations and "Cups" (Holland, Lou, Rutherford,) and Poile is struggling much like his wig.

is their core actually that good though?

I like Demko and Pettersson and Hughes. Beyond that, not sure there's much value to be found... (I say this without looking at any spreadsheets, this is my eyes and memory going out on a limb...)

so, everyone has focused on acquiring Kane from CHI.

what about Toews? I mean I've never liked the guy, and don't know how much he still has left in the tank, but gotta think he could still be a pretty superelite 3C, no?

plus, his value is likely way lower than Kane. and you could convince CHI to retain 50% of his hit.

thoughts?

In theory ROR or Toews are perfect for this team. Elite two way centers, that play the way the Leafs do and are cup winning captains.

But they both look done this year. Toews for a couple years. How much of that is playing on shitty teams and how much of it is they are done.
