Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

I don't really get that sense from the numbers I've seen. I think if they didn't have goaltending they'd be a total disaster.

The guys been saying the same thing about public data all year. Who knows, but some of the Leafs moves definitely don’t align with the public data.

Isles for years haven't really made sense based on public data but they got results for a long time. I do think something was missing there, at least with them.

the good advanced stats are secret, only for paying customers with big moolah...the rest of us dine on zeke's xGF stew

No. Likely need 40 pts in 30 games to sneak in and Horvat doesnt move the needle enough to push them over that

I get why they're trying. Old and declining team that needs to catch lightning in a bottle before they inevitably blow it up in the next few years. They've been horrendously mismanaged. I just think that the public nerdies have missed things with them for several years, that's all.

Are point paces of 103, 101, 103, 84, and 87 really "defying public data" in a league that is killing itself trying to keep mediocre and bad teams competitive with every rule or format change?

Yeah kind of. Nerdies never looked like a 100+ point pace team. Consistent for a solid 3 years so it wasn't really a fluke.

I don’t think the Isles are good, but that guy came from the inside and has been saying all year that public stats stink and showed GF% actually performs the best.

so maybe he is right that the isles are better than the stats say but even then so what? They may be an 8th seed? They aren’t close to contenders.

yep they outperformed the nerdies every year which led to all the Lou > Dubas stuff,

but maybe they were in with the real nerds all along.

He does alot of things good but nothing really great. He's like the swiss army knife of forwards. Not a "1st line forward"; kind of a tweener. Lucked into putting up solid numbers in a contract year.

Isles actually underperformed their nerdies offensively.

They outperform their defensive nerdies by a lot, so you could argue something there, or you could just say that they've had the best goalies in the league.

Overall, their gf% is slightly better than their xgf%. Nothing huge. Probably mostly goaltending, unless you want to say their goalies aren't actually anything special.

Incredible that Kadri just pops back up like nothing happened.

There are the Robertsons of the league and the Kadris of the league.

Nicky Bobby would be six feet under after absorbing one of those.
