Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

Sounds more like a nightmare.

The fans of the second Toronto team would be even more annoying than Sens fans or Toronto-born-and-raised Hab fans.

And I can’t even imagine the pain and misery if that team came along and won a Cup before the Leafs.
I used to always find the notion distasteful, but...

Imagine if they did expand and we got a competitive team right out of the gate like Vegas was, and they sort of do everything right?

I wonder, would we ditch our Leafs?

If I was capable of ditching the Leafs for another team Phony-Pony style, I’d have done it already.

So, Leafs or nobody at this point for me. And I have no doubt that a second Toronto team would instantly become my most hated team.

None of those other options were Toronto, though.

I'm not saying I'd ditch. Shit, I moved to LA 24 years ago and still am Leafs or bust, but they're wearing on me.

They have to find a way to succeed this year.

It would be very interesting to see what would happen to ticket prices.
Inter-city matchups alone would make up for any drop. Scalpers field day. Oh I'm sorry I mean the guys that sell you a dinner package at McDonald's for 2k and throw in game tickets. That's what I meant.

I've said piss on these pricks I don't know how many times. Always came back, never actually fully left.

They're in your blood or they ain't I guess.

It’s nuts that there isn’t a second Toronto team already.

Imagine if the EPL only permitted one London-based team. “Sorry guys, we don’t want anyone to have divided allegiance so you’re all Chelsea fans now.”

Hockeys an elitist white sport and demographics might kill the game in the long run. With each generation, as Canada becomes more diverse, its becoming less and less a part of the Canadian fabric.

Old whites are known to be welcoming to people of all backgrounds though, so everything will be fine. We'll just see more and more minorities welcomed into the hockey playing family with no problems at all.

None.

At all.

I've always got a guest joint ready

Is it less a part of the Canadian fabric or is the game just unreachable to most? MLSE milking every dollar possible has turned hockey into a TV show for the majority of fans.

I know everyone will harp on the "we gotta get kids involved in the game" but IMO the most important demographic is the 18-30 crowd... for the most part they do not have kids and they have some disposable income, make hockey/leafs part of life at that age and you've got them til they die.

The big hook is playing though. If you didn't play growing up, you're way less likely to get hooked on the game as an adult.
